Passport 7500S?.....or alternative???

My little brother was looking for an RD for his first car..... and he was looking into a good mid-grade unit ($150-$250) and he was thinking about a 7500S......I cant help because most of my knowledge is in the top3 and especially my X50.......so any input on the performance..........or alternative choices in this price range...... he absolutely refuses to spend $300+ on a top3 unit so i need to atleast tell him to get a good one.........ive even offered to sell him my X50 when I upgrade to a V1 ("NO WAY thats still too much for used"; $275 for X50 blue+hardwire kit and install)
he does like the Expert meter on my X50 and i think he likes the 7500S because of that

I have a 7500s and it's not really all that great, if he's on a tight budget go with ebay! He can get a good orig. 8500 for 100 - 125 if he keeps an eye out!

Just recently I purchased a ver. 1.8 pop 2 Valentine v1 off ebay for $175 and it looked new! :mrgreen:

second the 7500s being absolute garbage. i'm sure a lot of the higher end leaky cobras/whistlers will be able to even run with the 7500s or better

but he really likes it for the expert.......... he was also looking at the V995 after I told him that Roy sells it for 270 (everyone around here sells it for 300......radio shack, circuit city and Frys while best buy does escort).........Ive heard the 995 is a really good unit........ does it have the Bel equivilant to escort's Expert meter?............. what about the RX-55 is that one any good for 230?????? or should I steer him towards a good Whistler????


BTW........ he hates EBay and prefers to get a brand new unit........yes hes a really picky child, you shouldve seen him when shoping for his car........"no its gotta be a manual" (Now, 6 months later, hes wishing he got an Automatic), or "No its not fast enough", and that such BS
