Since Uniden isn't discussed very much, I was curious if anyone still owned an old Uniden rd. I used to have a Uniden LRD 767 which wasn't bad for a "cheap" rd. I even got 1.5 miles of detection from constant on k band.

They have been out of the radar detector business for many years,
I remember their famous RD9 or RD9XL that competed with the original Passport that I still own.
I know they have been out of the business for a while but some of those older rd's are cool to look at and hear the start up on.
I know, I miss the old days with the smaller detectors with constant on X and K band encounters only.
I actually have an older (Circa 1990's) Uniden detector in perfect working order. It has an accessory laser receptor that plugged into a jack on the side of the unit for rear detection. I ran the wire in the headliner to attach it to the rear window of my mid 90's chevy SS truck.
I never remember getting a laser alert from it, but it did provide some saves back in the day.
I just took it out of it's box this last summer to see if it still worked, I had plans to turn it into a "Zapper" but decided aganst it.
I have hopes that it performs ok at the 35.5 level in KA band for use this winter for my Snowmobile (new night speed limit this year, and 12 new Talon-2's bought by the DNR to enforce it)
I do not know the model of this unit, but on the front it says "Stalker" and it has a fisheye lens on the accessory laser receptor with a dark filtering material inside.
So, why did you ask?
Wow Switchback, the DNR monitoring snowmobielers. Interesting.
I have one hardwired into my other car. Since I never drive it I haven't worried about updating it.
I had an old Uniden back in high school that someone gave me. At first it was better than my Cobra "crapshooter", but it fell out of tune about a year later. I remember it was built like a tank and very boxy looking. It also have one of the loudest alerts I've ever heard.
I used to have the RD-55...that was a pretty darn good detector in it's time.
If only you could distinguish "X" from "K" band....otherwise it saved me quite a few times.
That RD was about 8" x 8" x 2.5" thick....
my friend has one.. falses like crazy and only pics up real cops at spitting distance. really good at finding gas stations and grocery stores though... often half a mile away.
