Default Will this method of mounting the RD affect signal reception?

The Whistler cordless DE1788 has no visor clip for visor-mounts.

I was thinking to use velcro on the underside of the RD and stick it onto the underside of the visor. This way, I have stealth and will have no use for the suction cups. However, the RD would be upside down but still pointing ahead on the roads.

Any impact on range, reception etc whilst the RD is upside down?

No, not at all. As long as you follow the basic rules of, straight down the road, level and clear from obstruction, every thing is 'A' ok

x2 I agree with Radar Rick, the display may take a bit of getting used to though.

from the test I've seen the cordless detectors have horrible range. You migt want to think about something corded.

with most yes, but the whistler cordless units are full time because they have POP detection so the cordless and equivilent corded whistler will be the same, but at a loss of battery life. That's the tradeoff for the performance.

Its too treacherous using a corded RD in my country. Penalties are pretty stiff. I've no problems with battery power life trade-off coz I carry spares.

So, seems like my stealth problem is solved if an upside down RD shows no "downside" in performance...

Should also have no problem about the display coz I normally listen to the beeps to identify the bands... Come to think of it, now the buttons are more easily accessible, much like an aeroplane's cockpit's controls...

    Tks, guys!

Your welcome there jerison. You know you can stealth a corded RD pretty well. Please consider this option, because you can never be too prepared 8)

Yes, RR, I believe so but its kinda troublesome and costly for me to purchase another RD and have it shipped to me. Already possess the 1788 so might as well make full use of it. Also unable to dispose of it as its illegal here to have RDs and I cannot open myself up by putting it up for sale in the local websites.

Irony is though I've held on to the 1788 for close to 3 weeks, I've not chanced upon a LEO aiming at me for me to find out the RD's performance. You may be wondering why I am having an RD for under such circumstances.. well, don't ask me, coz I dunno as well... probably its the novelty in having such an equipment that cannot be found here :P
