Default What should I replace my new rx65 with?

Ok so I finally got a Bel RX65 and on two cool mornings got the "self cal" message. The first time it only did it once but then this morning it did "self cal" 3 or 4 times then said "service required." I turned the unit off, turned the heat on high (it was 28 degrees this morning) and after 10 minutes turned the unit back on and it appeared to function normally. I also noted that every once in a while it would give X and K warnings without an audible alert, but that was corrected with resetting.

Needless to say I'm disappionted the Bel RX65!

I want to buy another unit to use while this one is out for repair and considered the Escort X50 but after doing some searches it sounds like that model is bassically the same as the RX 65 with the some of the same problems.

    So here are my questions:
Has anyone continued to have problems with the RX 65 even after sending it out for repairs?
Is the RX 65 more reliable after being sent for repairs?
Should I get another RX 65, an STi, an Escort X50 or something else?

Well first off i hope you bought from radarbusters.com If you did PM RadarRoy and he will make things right. If you got this unit from some other nonauthorized dealer i am not suprised this happened to you.
As for another detector i would recomend a Valentine one. It is considered the most sensitive detector. This makes it go off more from non police radar in towns and cities but it is perfect on the highway. If you got that then you would have the best city town detector (RX65) and the best highway detector (V1). just my thoughts

yeah I'm not worried about getting this one repaired, that's not a problem, it's what to use while this one is out for warranty that I'm not sure about. I don't know what else to buy. I like RX 65 but if it not reliable even after repairs then I certainly don't want to buy another one.

The v1 sounds good but I don't want to have to change units when going from city to highway.

Well you wouldn't have to change units it just might make a bit more noise in city like areas. The reason i said V1 is because once you get the RX65 back it would be nice to have two different detectors that both have there own strenghts.

After owning a V1, RX-65, and X50...I disagree. The X50 is the best city detector and the V1 is right there with it when in Advanced Logic with 15 second K-Mute.

I do like the like the Rx65 but the V1 is better in the city (see above) and both are solid on the interstate.

    Default get

Get the X50 or the V1, you can't go wrong w/ either of them.

Well I ordered the V1 this morning. I figure I use the better of the two in the car I'm most likely to speed in.
