S7 Platform VS M4

I know this is a tired topic. I'm not trying to open up a can of worms or anything like that so please do not debate as to which horn is more sensative. That is the least of my concern as I've already heard that there is no significant difference between the two. No difference worth mentioning at least. My question is, is there any other difference between these 2 platforms? Does one have better ramp up or laser detection? Does the M4 platform have a redesigned speaker? I have a vector 955 with the chrome top with the s7 platform and the speaker sounds kind of distorted and I was thinking of trading it in for an M4 platform 955. Is that a good idea?

I seem to remember reading a post, maybe by MEM-TEK, stating that the newer Bels and Escorts did have better speakers and were likely to last longer. I don't think a weak speaker is a good enough reason to upgrade your detector, especially to just get the same model again. If you're really having problems with the sound, I'm sure the cheaper route would be to send it to the factory for repair.

I agree, send it in for a tune up and tell them you are having problems with the speaker. The S7 is killer on Ka.

I just got off the phone with PUI a little while ago. It turns out that the new PUI "high temp" speakers are custom manufactured for Escort. PUI is not allowed to disclose the exact specifications for these speakers. Escort's new PUI "high temp" speaker has this part number:

I think we should discuss the S7 versus M4 issue some more -- a lot more! Eventually we will hit some kind of record for the most continuously and most thoroughly and most unnecessarily and most overly discussed topic here on the forum. I've run out of adjectives or adverbs or whatever you call those "ly" words.

Send it in to fix the speaker, unless your going to upgrade big (STI, 9500I, V1) just get it fixed.

Accidentally discovered tutorial mode few days ago and after a few seconds of listening the speaker sounded like it was crapping out. One year warranty expires in a couple of months. Does Belscort offer the additional two year warranty upgrade only when the detector is purchased or can it be added anytime during the first year of ownership?
