Default I thought I'd seen it all!

I'm so used to seeing Cobras pointed at the sky, it's almost normal to me. Last night I saw one that had to be seen to be believed!

I'm sitting at a stop light, a car pulls up next to me (on my left). I look over and the driver turns on his radar detector on the dash. it was a chrome laden Cobra pointed directly at me!!! It was in the middle of the dash, so I guess he figured it was easier to access the buttons if they faced the driver......

I'm wondering - do Cobras have any user's guide?
Or - do Cobra users can read?
Or - do Cobra users can understand what they read?

As a former Cobra user, yes, Cobras do have a user guide. They actually tell you to mount it as level as possible, as well (though the windshield mount is horrendous). I just think that since Cobras are so widely and easily available, the majority of people that buy them are too ignorant to read the instructions. The average Valentine/Bel/Escort user usually knows a little more about RD's and, therefore, knows how to mount a RD properly.

Most probably figure, "its just a radar detector with a few buttons. I'll stick it on my dash/windshield, hit power and now I can speed. How hard can it be?"

Little do they know there is more to it than that. Even the ones that do read the manual and set it up properly probably don't realize how poorly they perform vs. Bel, Escort, Whistler, V1, etc...

how is that even possible with a standard mount? I can't picture how you could do that without bending the mounting tab towards the drivers seat.

in that case maybe he just turned it to have access to the buttons to turn it on?
