Default cobra user and unhappy, help needing another detector

Hey everybody this is my first post here and I had gotta a cobra for my birthday, and beind using it for a month know and i dont know about it. I checked with my friend and he told me that they use 35.5 ka band where I live, and let me tell you i dont know if Iam getting hit with instant on everytime or what but my cobra detector alerts me to the 35.5 ka police officer right on top of him which sucks ass. I almost got a ticket the other day like this.

So i made up my mind that I would by myself my own detector, and give the cobra to somebody else or whatever.

Now my driving conditions are suburban only, well higway sometimes, but mostly suburban. I dont really know much about which detector i or about detectors itself, just taught that it would be a good ideat know that i have gotten introduce to a rader detector, so I want the best that could detect 35.5 ka band.
I dont really have a budget, well maybe 500 and down, I really would like a windsheild mount not one of those that you hook up to your care and its there permanetly.

But i am looking for the one that would detec 35.5 ka band the best

Sorry if iam being a noob, but I need help ASAP. because iam not really fealing a my cobra detector at all.

    Thanks

The 9500CI is the best at 35.5 Ka but is out of your budget and is a detector you have to install in your car, witch you said you didn't want.

If your looking for pure sensitivity go with the valentine one. The 9500i is almost as sensitive but doesn't get false alerts nearly as much.

Those are definitely your two best choices, and within your budget.

If you want a detector with maximum sensitivity on all bands, and gives you directional arrows to help you locate where the threat is coming from, go V1.

If you want a more quiet detector that allows you to lock out known false alarms, but doesn't have directional arrows, and is slightly less sensitive, go 9500i.

You don't tell us where you are, but if you are in a state that outlaws radar detectors, then there is really only one choice for invisibility, and that is the Bel STI Driver. But it is more expensive, and with slightly less sensitivity.

Cobra doesn't make it's own products. It has products built to spec by manufacturers in China. As far as their radar detectors go, they basically keep updating the "shell" and throw in a few new gimmicky features every couple of years. But internally, they don't do much, if anything, to make the detector work better.

A website you should look at:

Radar Detector Tests and Reviews by Guys of LIDAR

Find the radar detector tests they have done (just click on the link) above and go to 'Radar Detector test August 2007'. Specifically the 35.5 Testing and the KA around the curve.

Look at how Cobras stack up against other units.

holy **** they do suck, i see the v1 and the 9500i is the best, but why did the v1 do bad with forward facing and the 9500i do good at it with 35.5 ka band
I assume that forward facing means that the cop is facing forward right.

Yeah just start reading up in the Valentine Section and Escort section..........

That's what I have been doing for a little over a month and took me a month to decide which I'm going to buy . There is also the 9500iX @ $50 more then the 9500i, just so you know. It really comes down to what features you want in the detector.
