For Harry Potter fans, that's the catch-phrase of "Mad-Eye Moody". But it's a motto that has to be lived by.

Coming home tonight on the PA Turnpike, getting a few K blips. We were having a conversation and I wasn't paying attention since it was intermittant.

As we came up a hill, my wife (who is an OUTSTANDING spotter, and could work with Alex Roy) shouts "Police Car" and my brain makes the connection between the warnings I had been picking up, and I brake hard just as some instant-on lights up my Valentine1. Normally I would know that with no shopping centers around, those blips would be indicative of something ahead, but I was saved by my wife, not the RD.

So, keep alert out there, fellow zombies!

X2, been down that road before. We get used to using our detectors that we get over confident in our understanding of them. My wife has warned me sometimes to. To us the sound is cool and fun, to a woman it is annoying, nerdy and a fun toy for her husband.

If she get's in my case I'll drive to a local grocery story and turn on A mode and watch her get red. lol.

I'm not understanding why you dismissed the few K blips you had when there were no shopping centers around? That would have been a very costly mistake.

I actually had a lady in my car the other day and she asked "What's that?" and pointed to my V1 and I told her, then about 1/3 a mile after she asked I started picking up K band alerts from a good ways away and as we passed I was like "Look there's two of them *points*" and she said "Oh! That's cool!"

Heh, I found it amusing.

All the women I've known have been polarized on the detector issue. They either get it or they're clueless. My daughter Penny is maturing into a decent spotter. Not as good as I was for my Dad but pretty decent. At least she tries.
