Thumbs down Laser Jammers and Detectors under fire yet again in FLA!

Yes Folks Flordia is at it again Please Call your state Rep's and People in the House, senate, and your very ludicrous governor. Please help stop the Ban of radar detectors in the state of FLA! Please help stop the spread of banning detector's. [replacer_img][replacer_img][replacer_img] I have already tried to halt this administration once myself. I have contacted every news station about a year ago in FLA about this very issue. Although I think it's going to take picketing on the lawn of your capitol to make your governor realize people are truely upset about this, and to halt his hanus actions in which he obviously feel's zero remorce.

    If you live in FLA.

Here is info on how to contact members of your house of reps.

Florida House of Representatives - House Directory

To find your Rep Please see this page, lookup the district in which you are in and then contact your rep. Via the 800 number above.

It is also suggested you contact your senator and governor by looking for them also, I don't know how to contact either of them. Please take into consideration the more people you contact and let know this upsets you, the more that shall be opposed to such legislation.

06 MAR 2007 - REGARDING RUMOR THAT FLORIDA IS LOOKING INTO A RADAR DETECTOR BAN: Yes, this is true. In some recent AP articles spread about in various Florida papers, Senator Stephen Oelrich is trying to convince the Florida legislature to pass a law which would prohibit the use of detectors and jammers. Their use would become a secondary, non-criminal offense, but would carry an additional ticket/fine. Mind you, you wouldn't get pulled OVER just for having a radar detector in your vehicle; but if stopped for speeding, you would be ticketed for both speeding AND the possession of a detector. To convince lawmakers to pass the law, however, slightly incorrect information is being used. At least as stated in recent articles, Oelrich advises that NINE STATES across the US already prohibit detectors. This is incorrect, and it tends to give the incorrect impression that there is more support across the country for RD laws than there actually is. There are only TWO states across the US which actually ban radar DETECTORS: DC and VA. Senator Oelrich is confusing radar DETECTORS with radar JAMMERS. They are not the same. Detectors are PASSIVE devices which do NOT emit any signals to interfere with law enforcement frequencies. JAMMERS are ACTIVE devices which emit signals designed to MALICIOUSLY INTERFERE with a police radar gun so as to render the radar gun useless. There ARE multiple states across the country with anti-JAMMER laws (and I support the JAMMER laws); but Sen. Oelrich is incorrect about there being nine states across the country with anti-DETECTOR laws. Here is the original article as published in the Pensacola News Journal, and beneath it my Letter to the Editor. Since it's publishing, the proposed law has been made public and it has become apparent that the bill proposes to make both detectors AND jammers illegal. I've since been interviewed as well by the Miami Herald/NPR and I've given similar responses. I'm not really for or AGAINST the use of RDs in Florida. Although, I don't really see the need for an anti-RD law as I don't think it would actually do that much good, to be honest. I think more good is done just by pointing a radar gun up the road and leaving it on, and/or leaving a patrol car parked in the median with same, or with a dummy, or with both, and serve more towards the intended purpose than a law would. And I've actually encountered these (very ingenious) tricks being used before in just about every state up the eastern coastline, and they WORK. I mean, the whole point IS, actually...to make people SLOW DOWN. Correct?

Tired, and in utter dismay at the Flordia Legislature.

That is very correct lug. DC is the District of Columbia, which is not a state. That is an article in which i copy and pasted so i appoligize for the man's mistake on that item. LOL.. The rest is Valid. I wrote the above statement and that last little tad under his article on the subject.

Thankyou for your concern Lug. You are right, we need all the people we can get behind this. . Even if your not from FLA please speak your voice. Think how many of us vacation in FLA!?? I know i do from time to time. So weather we live there, or not it is affecting us.

Thumbs up Re: Laser Jammers and Detectors under fire yet again in FLA!

Please and thankyou trailtow . It is much appriciated that you are helping us all in this effort. It is much abliged. I do not currently know when this issue is to come to table. As far as i'm aware and this article states one of your senator's is already trying to currently push the issue, and has been for sometime now. I have tried time and time again from Michigan to stop him. Although I think it's going to take a bigger effort, and support in the Local area, and vacinity. Maybe a peacefull assembly and protest, with signs on the capitol lawn. That might not only jerk others attention in the Right positions that people are upset about this, and don't want to see this legislation make it past the step's of the building in FLA. It might just even get the media involved to a point where they actually broadcast the story live, and word get's around even more, and maybe we can get even more people to join our effort. To prevent our electronics from being further trounced apon in this wonderfull country.

PS: I am a member of the NMA. AKA as the National Motorist Association a group that fight's for "motorist's right's." I will be contacting Jim Baxter in Wanakee WI to find out more on this issue. Which i will detail here in a few minutes.

Here is the contact info for Steve Oelrich: Senators :Member Pages : flsenate.gov

2007 seems a little old, he was trying to get elected at the time so may well have just been trying to garner votes from Republican law enforcement types. Is there an actual bill on the table?

Well you it says you can't get pulled over for having one and it's not like I'm not planning on getting pulled over for speeding anyways to have the officer write me a RD ticket .

But I agree, this is ridiculous.
