    Default Removing x band

Does anyone know a way of removing x band from a cheap radar detector. In older detectors if you pull them apart you will find a small metalic box for every band covered(3 of them x,k and ka) you will see a slot in them wich with a screwdriver you can turn the x band one to a point where it no longer receives a signal. when you first see them you can put a scratch in line with the slot so you can return them back to the same seting.Dose any one now wether thay are still like this or are thay all digital now.

These days, it either has the option (in the form of configurable bands or user selectable city mode), or not. You really can't do anything internally.

I realize that about 99% of X-band alerts are false radar reports. However, every once in awhile I still find a sneaky leo that will park right smack in the middle of a zone known for false alarming on X-band just to get an edge on detector users. The only way of catching this sneak attack, to my knowledge, is to get a report on a CB, OR perhaps notice the number of bogey's on a V1 being one more than you known for the area.

I know it's very rare to encounter true X band radar, but I really believe some leos are still taking advantage of all the drivers that are turning X band off on their RDs. Some new radar guns still offer X band, and X band is still the best one to lock in a speed reading from the furthest distance- so some leos may still switch to X band if they suspect somebody is speeding too far from them for k or ka use (no laser has a chance at long distance) from them, say within a mile maybe. I honestly have seen X band used in such ways more than once within the past year. It's rare, but it's still a tool many leos have to lock in speed from further away.

Where was that? Surely some place flat and empty with almost no traffic?

    You haven't seen the XR
No problem at all at 1 mile.

Can you post a video, or detail the location(s), describe the encounter/set-up or otherwise explain how you draw this conclusion?

I'm not sure why a LEO would clock you at 1 mile away with any radar. Unless you are the only car in the road, I can't see this being effective. I don't understand the need for longer range and trying to defeat RD.

To the best of my knowledge instant-on and its cousin QT are best radar detector defeating techniques. Then again, I live in Florida and X band radar opens the doors at my local grocery store.
