Default X-band isn't going away, anytime soon

Took place in a unique Rest Area on I-5, that is right on the Santiam River near Albany Oregon. You can actually drive under the interstate and make what is essentially a U-turn and reverse course

This cruiser (one of them little Dodges) pulls off the pavement and the [lady]COP proceedes to challenge some guy that was fishing. While she was facing the river, I took a couple pix.
I love my camera but the auto-exposure can be frustrating because it uses the flash many times when it's not really necessary. Not only does it negatively impact the pic(by altering the exposure), but it announces to EVERYBODY that a camera is in use. So-o-o-o . .. some whiney ***k felt the need to tattle.

late model MPH Python with an X-band antenna, positioned to the left for better opposite-direction monitoring

COP[approaching my vehicle] "Is there a problem?"

    Me: "No, but thank you."

COP: "I understand your are taking pictures."

Me: "That is correct. Is there a problem?"

    COP: "What are photographing ?"

Me: "Your Cruiser. That is a beautiful piece of equipment and, as a taxpayer, I'm proud to have invested in it."

COP looks like she just swallowed her badge, and falls back to the script
"I just want to make sure there is not problem"

Me: "Trust me Ma'am, if there was a problem I would communicate it to you in a much more effective fashion. Like I said, this is a beautiful peice of equipment and I'm proud to have invested in it." [I can do the script thing too, LADY]"

She's not happy, but turns and heads towards the Cruiser.
Thank you for your hep, officer - - -
I'm supposed to believe this dialog was prompted by a concern for my safety.

    I can't believe X-band units are still being made/sold.

Haven't they heard: "K is the new X"?

i live in NC. i know that X-band is listed as "in use" according to the threads on this forum, but i didn't believe it until i saw it.

in a matter of 10 days, i got hit with X-band 3 times...once up in danbury (near the virginia line), once in locust (about 20 mi east of charlotte), and another time in mount airy (near virginia).

i wouldn't have believed it if the LEO wasn't moving right at me and the sti got louder and louder.

and to think...i was just about to turn that band off!!

Indykappa, you’re right, X definitely is in use here and along with liberal doses of VASCAR. As a heads up, a friend of mine makes a run from Charlotte to Kings Mountain twice daily on I-85 and they are out there every day with VASCAR working off the ramps. There is also an X gun in use usually on the east side of town. We’ve got all the favors in this town including laser.

Thanks OldGoat for the great pic, gotta kill that flash though.

Nice Photo, and fun sounding conversation... Not surprised that X is still being used, it is actually the only thing they use in this small town near where I live, or at least the only thing I have ever been hit with.... Carter Lake, IA

the multiple flash thing could also be red eye compensation, try turning it off and see if it flashes a bit less.

Thanks, I'll remember that when I have to go Eppley next time. The only place I've seen X being used around here was in Nebraska City once.
