Don't have to wear a seat belt anymore?

...You're not from around these parts, are you? Radar detectors have nothing at all to do with seat belt usage. I would strongly suggest that you always wear your seat belt, unless you plan to wear full pads and a shock-absorbent helmet every time you drive, lest you be turned into a human cannonball by a sudden, unexpected stop.

no, i was saying theres a certain level or degree of radar detector where it provides enough safety from cops so that you dont have to wear seat belts unless you wan to. like if you get a crappy one youll get pulled over. but if you get one good enough you wont get pulled over so youll never get a seat belt ticket in the first place.
well, nvm that was just a joke i guess.. but which one will provide me like enough so i can go a couple mph over ?

Radar Detectors are not 100% full protection from getting pulled over, you should never buy one just to speed all over town...Radar Detectors should be used as a tool...a tool to help you know your surroundings of police running radar not to speed. And please wear a seat belt, thats just dumb not too...

Define "couple." If you're only going 5 over the speed limit, you don't need a detector, as no officer worth his badge will stop you for speeding, and if one does, the ticket won't stick.

There's a lot more than the speed you want to go that needs to be taken into consideration when shopping for detectors. Do you live somewhere that detectors are illegal? Do you do mostly highway driving, or do you spend most of your time in the city? What radar bands are prevalent in your area, or do the police use more lidar than anything else?

We'd need a lot more information than you're giving us to be able to help answer your question, but ultimately, you'll have to do the research and decide which radar detector, if any, works best for your needs and your budget. It's not as simple as, "Detector X is the best RD out there, and you should buy that one."

    RADAR detector not COP detector.

And not one tool talked about here gets you any specific level of coverage, all are just tools that when used together and used properly provide an enhanced situational awareness. And all are subject to user error, even after they get installed properly.

A V1 will keep you safe without a seatbelt but with the new Redline you can drive NAKED with no seatbelt.

It all depends on what you're looking for. Do a search. This has been covered thousands of times already...

I am definately a beliver that seatbelts save lives, I am sure it saved mine once and I had the bruises for almost a month to prove it..

With that said, I am thinking that perhaps some people really do not need to wear them.

To the OP - Pass on the detector, I would get a sash made that looks like a seatbelt and velcro it to your shirt as you drive. This should avoid those unfortunate seatbelt tickets.

In all seriousness please wear one. If we have government health care coming down the pipe the rest of us do not want to pay for extra medical expenses you will incurr for not wearing one.
