Check out the "Show Off Your Install" Forum down below, and search on Blinder, you'll find a lot of self-installs of them. I think difficulty is more a function of your vehicle than of the blinders themselves.
Cal
the most difficult part about it is getting them straight and level to the road.
the wiring is easy.
what is your budget on a radar detector?
blinder m27 will protect your car easily with proper installation.
where are you locateD?
I have of a budget of about 800, and I live in Alabama.
Get a better RD in AL. They still use mostly radar there but moving to lidar more and more. For $800 you can get a V1 and a M27.

Professional installation is recommended for the Blinder laser jammers because I do suspect you would need to toy with the electricity in your car, which is not something I personally would do.
And please, don't get the Whistler. Stay with Beltronics or Escort. If you drive in the city, I recommend the 9500ix (it filters out false signals on it's own).
the install is not very difficult depending on your level of expertise. If you can install a car stereo system you can install laser transponder system.
The hardest part really is just getting the wiring routed through the car.
