Ka Band with no LEO around

I work at a grocery store and the doors have K band. When I have been pulling up lately I am right next to the store and Ka jumps out the K for a few seconds then goes away. I have also had this happen near my house at a car wash that I use. Is there a new Ka band sensor for door openers or security systems? I thought that Ka was used mostly for speed enforcement. So ideas or thoughts would be great.

your ka you got could have been a false from a leaky cobra radar detector or possibly a short burst of i/o from the popo,mostly a leaky detector from someone you picked up.

I'm going to guess leaky satellite dish. If we had the frequency of the alert, it would be easier to know what is causing it. Satellite dishes always false near 33.7xx Ka.

Agreed. I got a Ka alert on my 9500i when I tested it against my Bushnell:

When you have a strong radio source very close by, it's possible for the signal to "bleed" over and be falsely detected in adjacent bands. This is probably also why the V1 "ghosts" on strong signals.

Both of you guys have seen this against a Bushnell, but I don't think this equates to the OP's experience. I've been by a million-bajillion K band speed signs and door openers and never once have I seen a Belscort ghost a Ka band contact.

Also, super low batteries on the bushnell cause it to shoot super weak 33.5 Ka. Now I just got to find a way to make it stronger.
