Good question. To be honest, I'm not sure. If you start tampering with the 9500ix, you may inadvertently do something harmful and your warranty goes bye bye.

Does it matter that the FHP was stationary and outside of the vehicle?
I/O can be used in a moving or stationary position.

He was talking with someone he may have been assisting. No detection devices in his hand.
Sounds like you ran into a forward facing situation and not I/O:

A LEO has to manually operate his radar unit in order for him to use I/O. If he was busy talking to a motorist, then it probably wasn't I/O.

    Snoop,

You and I essentially have the same vehicle and I mount my V1 in essentially the same place.

How do you get your air vents to shoot up there? Pointing that high up, my flaps are essentially closed....

You have it mounted here corrcet?

You have to rotate the vent so that it is literally upside down. This will allow you to shoot the air upwards to the V1.

    Yes, I do.

And, after I challenged you, I went back to my truck and sure enough, you CAN get the one vent on the center console, to shoot up there. Sorry for doubting you !!
