Default Where do you hide your detector?

I would love to know what you guys/gals do with your detectors when parked? Or, if its hidden really well, share a pic?

I park in my carport at home, so I leave the detector on the windshield. My dogs would go crazy if someone walked up to break in, so I'm not worried about that! When I am in a big parking lot/sketchy area for more than a few minutes I usually disconnect the detector and put it under my seat, but leave the mount and wire hanging from the headliner. I sometimes have the bad habit of leaving the detector up if I am only going to be in the store for a few minutes. Probably not a good idea!

Mine is hardwired behind the tint strip. Coupled with the rest of my windows being tinted, it's completely invisible from outside of the car. I know exactly where it is and I can't even see it!

Visor mounted or windshield mount at the top, direct wire only.
Cops don't see it when pulled over, and thieves don't see it behind tint.
Small disadvantage of laser filtering but mine still works w/direct hit.

Almost never take it down except transferring it to another vehicle.
17 years and no one has stole it yet, no make that 26 years w/passport.

I have a car cover that goes on the car if it's not in the garage. Keeps the car cooler in the summer, keeps prying eyes from looking inside or on the outside of the car.

x3, after doing mine like this behind a 5 percent tint, I'd never do anything else. One of the most stealthy options IMO.

Sounds like behind the tint is the way to go. How much would it affect laser sensitivity on an 8500 x50? What about rear sensitivity if it is mounted that high?

Thanks for all of the help!

PS - if anyone has any picks of a slick "behind-the-tint" install I would love to see them!

I always keep it in my pocket when not in the car. If I am running into a store for a few minutes I will leave it up, and sometimes when I can't fit it in my pocket too.

It is mounted behind the tint strip, hard wired, and acnnot be seen from the outside when the visor is down.

Mine is hardwired and almost impossible to see as well with my windows up, but I still never leave it up. If I'm home, it goes inside with me. If I'm out in town somewhere, it goes under my seat.
