    Default Blendmount discounts/alternatives

I have a few RDs and a few different cars that I am looking for a better RD mounting solution for. The RDs are a V1, a Bel 995, and an Escort/Passport 8500. I will need a few different mounts to cover the different cars.

My first question is: Does anyone know of a coupon code or multiple-order discount from Blendmount? Do they go on sale regularly? Is there a cheaper outlet to purchase them from (ebay maybe?) Are there scratch and dent sales (I don't care if it looks perfect)?

Another question; are there viable alternatives to Blendmount for hardmounting to the mirror? So far I don't like visor mounting because I occasionally like to flip down the visors (even the passenger side one) while driving; also my wife flips them down to use the mirror and never puts them back up...
The suction cup mounts kind of suck and are too obvious from the outside.

I assume you can see a unit installed with a blendmount too, but it seems much more stealthy because there's no curly cord pointing to it and there's nothing stuck to the windshield (also helps avoid tickets for things stuck to the windshield)

Try This: my 9500ix custom install in a 97 Lincoln Town Car - Escort Radar Forum
See if you like this installation. All you need is a DirectWire SmartCord. You may have to modify this method depending on your car, but it should work well for most cars.

I like it, but it still relies on suction cups. It looks like the RD gets a little extra support from sitting on the mirror, but I am just tired of catching RDs falling off the window while I am driving, due to suction cup mounts. I see you are in FL; I'm in a much more volatile area for weather and the temperature changes wreak havoc on suction cup mounts. Plus, there's those two circles on the window, a dead giveaway. Nice ride though!

I got a nice mirror mount on FleazeBay for $30 shipped. PM me and I'll send the link.

Here's a few Pix I just uploaded of it:

    PM sent :-D

Is there any way to tighten up the gap between the bottom of the mirror and the RD?

There are two opposing tightening knobs. I've got that big sensor in the way or I'd make it higher. If I swing the bracket forward, it will go higher but closer to the windshield.

Thanx. The RD is not resting on the mirror, because otherwise I would not be able to open my sunshade. I have so many suction cups (8) that no one can figure out what is what. I have: A GPS (1), 9500ix (2), Dashcam (1), External GPS Antenna (4). So any cop will get confused and distracted by all the equipment in my car and not notice that I have an RD (I remove the RD when pulled over, leaving just the suction cups and rj-11 connector.) If the cop asks what those suction cups and cord are for, I'll just say it was an accessory for my carphone that I removed (Yes, I actually have a carphone in my car!). Unless you live in one of the desert states, you really can't imagine a worse state for suction cups than FL. If you don't want them to fall off, then glue them to the windshield.

I've had my blendmount for a year now and it's been pretty good alternative to the suction cups.. I keep my RD high underneath the mirror and it looks factory installed.

The only thing I recommend with these kinds of mounts is to keep the Allen wrench handy because after a couple of bumps in the road you'll notice the mount starts to get a bit loose but not like swinging loose. lol! You just need to tighten the mount once in a while.

A drop of lock tight perhaps?
