Default Anything better than Uniden BCT-8?

Anyone know of a better scanner than the Unden BCT-8 for evading speed traps? I'm trying to find the best scanner for evading speed traps.

Straight out of the box, I don't think there is anything more helpful of evading speedtraps.....But with some programming another scanner might be better

How much programming and time would the Pro-96 require to make it equal or better than the BCT-8?

isn't the 246t better? I have that one and it's great, but takes quite a bit of programming to get right.

Quote not too much but you will need to add the local frequencies which you can do with computer software with either scanner....The benefit to the Pro-96 is that is scans digital as where as the BCT-8 does not. So with the Pro-96 you will be able to listen to digital converstaions as well, so it all depends on what you really want to listen to.....If you are just getting into scanning the Pro-96 and BCT-8 are both good choices. but if you don't want need something that is digital and want a handheld the BC246t is another good choice...

Pro 96 is on sale for 399 you save 100. If you need digital it is the one. The uniden 246t is an analog unit but close call and size are strong selling points.

I see you live in northern illinois and have the 246t as well. Ever since I've had it, for about a year now, it's been diffcult for me to program. It's just very complex and i'm a novice. I actually live in the Milwaukee area and they have a truncking system so I got that all set up, but it took a lot of work with the computer program. Do you have any tips or anything that is a "Must Have" in my scanner?

If you really want to monitor the trunked system, i would recommend a bonafied 800MHz antenna like the "Seeker 800 MHz" or Radioshack 800 MHz. Butel software is what i used to program my 246t and it worked out great...Also whatelse are you looking to scan? you might benefit from an external antenna....I just use a mobile antenna as my external antenna
