Sunday is mostly sunny, high of 66 degrees. Perfect weather!
Well guys it doesn't look like I will be making it today... I couldn't change my plans for 1pm. So have fun out there and I am certainly bummed about being unable to attend. Wish I saw this thread earlier... Thanks for the update though upstate!
Ps- if you guys read this before you leave victor... If you guys keep getting crazy PTs at 100-350ft... Something is fairly obscene with that course.
Hey, was the bus fire on the thruway televised in your area (Victor or AirMoore) ? Added an hou to my trip home, got a funny story though
Did a little testing in Buffalo yesterday, thanks Victor! I think we were both satisfied with the results. Dern 7 second cut off is great for real world but sucks for testing.
Which brings me to my first story on the trip out to Buffalo. Pretty uneventful from 81 north all the way past Rochester going west on the thruway. I had just passed the Pembroke rest stop and was heading toward an area where I vaguely remember getting a rear laser shot on the way out of Buffalo in June. I could see strobes on the right hand shoulder quite a distance up so I decided as a courtesy to move over to the passing lane when the V1 and the blinders alerted to laser. NYSP SUV in the median shooting thru his passenger side window. This was may first laser hit w/ the blinders and I pulled a riverwabbit! (it's in the dictionary) Cruised right on by, he didn't pull out and I passed 2 more chase cars a little ways up. On the way out of Buffalo they were all sitting there again but I didn't get tagged. So, of the 3 times I have driven that route, there's been a lidar trap, pretty high risk.
Further east of Buffalo on my way home near rochester traffic started to slow significantly until we came to a stop. This is never a good sign on the thruway especially when construction workers have the day off. So I'm stopped on the thruway with cars as far as the eye can see in front and behind, no indication what's going on. I have my hand held Midland plugged in but no external antenna so my range is about 3/10 of a mile and I can't hear anything. So there's a big rig sitting next to me and I decide to chat him up. he says that there's a burned out bus a bout a mile and a half ahead on the shoulder with what looks like a bunch of mexicans standing near it. I hear him talking to another big rig next to me when a small flat bed truck goes flying by in the emergency lane towrds the accident. They both cant' figure out why that vehicle has to get to the accident scene so one of them says maybe its for the passengers! (haha) Then the big rig says they're letting people pass in the left lane, cool I'm already there. The big rig is in the right lane and I ask him If he wants to move over to the left and he says sure! So I stop up along side him and hold up the left lane long enough for him to squeeze in. Much obliged! he said. CB's are f#&king cool!
We finally get to the burned out bus and it is a total skeleton, just the metal shell, no tires. And what appears to be a group of mexicans standing further up on the shoulder! Never did figure out what the flat bed was for.
