Default Returned my v1 in JUST 2 days!

Well on my way to return the V1, there was a few things I noticed and thought about. The first thing is the V1 has no delay on the strength meter. This is rather annyoing/funny when its raining, and you windshiled wipers are going with a cop in front of you. its at full strength, then 4 lights, then full strength, then 4 lights. I turned the wipers off and It stayed at full strength. It sort of made me laugh because other detectors dont usually do that. Then again other detectors dont have arrows that will point to front, side, and back w/o delay

Also, I talked to the tech support about the falsing on K. He told me to put a 5 second delay on it so I wouldn't false as much. Yes, it did stop a lot of the falsing, but then again I had about a 4 second warning on the highway with a state trooper over the hill. Also it brought to mind Instant On radars. With a 5 second delay, or any delay set for that matter, you can kiss your Instant On radar detections goodbye. Also he asked why I was returning the V1. I told him I couldnt stand the constant beeping on K band to doors around my city. He said that about 50% of all the people that have bought the 1.8 are returning them for this very reason! So I know I am not alone.

I am one of the few people that try both things out before I come to a decision. There are people out there that Claim Escort s better then V1, or V1's are better then Escorts. I would agree and disagree on a few factors.

The V1 obviously has the nice arrows, and detects behind the car much better then the Escort. The V1.8 Also is more sensitive and gives farther warning on any radar. The only problem is, if you live in a small city every door in the city will be setting this one off and rendering your V1 useless. The bogey meter is going up and down so quick that you cannot tell if there is a cop ahead or what is going on.

The escort does an alright job at detecting from behind. its range is amazing as well as the v1's, but it has excellent filtering.

I would recommend the Escort as of now. I am really looking to buy the V1 .7 off of ebay. I really would like a radar with arrows, but also a radar that wont beep until your ears bleed.

I know this is going to throw some of you V1 zombies into a rage, and of coarse you are goign to defend the 400$ you sepnt on the radar detector. I have used them both, I live in a small city- maybe for people that live out in BFE the V1 1.8 will be the right choice for them.

Versions 1.7 of V1 go for over $350 on ebay. You were better off keeping the V1 and turning off the pop.

They gave the 1.8 more sensetivity, which I am hoping to eliminate by going with the 1.7

I noticed that the K band falsing came with pop upgrade. You can get a version 1.8 without pop and it will false less on K band. With version 1.7, KA band will be reduced.

I don't think you know the version of V1's.

    It goes like this:
    Ver. 1.7
    Ver. 1.8
    Ver. 1.8+pop
    Ver. 1.8+pop2 <--newest

I agree with joop1987. I believe the 1.7 was less sensitive only on Ka band. If you are willing to give up pop detection with a 1.7, then using a 1.8 pop2 unit with pop turned off would have given you almost the same thing, with better Ka detection.

Sounds like it is too late though since you already returned it, oh well.

It would be the J and I turned it off by making the arrow face down.

So you are saying there is no sensetivity difference between v1 1.7 and 1.8 other then KA?

    Sethy,

I too agree with joop1987 and Jim.

You should call and have it sent back for one more try. Tell VR to refuse delivery! Do it and do it now!

Keep in mind that when you do a timed delay or automute that only applies if you don't break the threshold. Instant on radar will break the threshold immediately giving you instant warning. Also you said that you are tired of flashing arrows, that does not apply in advanced logic mode.

I know what happened! It was the 4 second delay. Not enough time personally I max out at 30 seconds. Read my prior thread.
