Thread: False KA Alerts

    Default False KA Alerts

I have my V1 hardwired into a 2007 BMW 530xi (which I got 2 weeks ago) that has Sirrus and Navigation. The V1 is attached to the windshield on the drivers side just below the tint line and next to the rear view mirror.

As soon as it power cycles on, the bogy counter goes to 1, the behind arrow is lit, and the KA indicator throws anywhere for 1-3 LED's. I don't have this problem in any of my other cars, so I know the V1 is fine.

I am running software version 1.8 and have not changed any of the factory settings. Could the satellite radio antenna or DVD laser be messing up the V1? Anyone else run into this and have a solution? Great forum, I can't believe I have never come across it before!

    Thanks,
    Rich

Try to put more distance between your V1 and your Sirius antenna. That might solve it.

    Hey Rich:

I don't have a comment on the RD issue. I just wanted to say nice car. I ahve the 06 325xi and I absolutely love my Bimmer. It is the best car made out there today.
I run the V1 in my car and love it. I hope you get the issue fixed.

I'm not sure where the Sirius antenna is, do you know? I thought it was part of the shark fin and the back of the roof.

The LCD wouldn't cause a Ka alert, it would cause a laser alert. So I don't think that is the problem.

    Default Similar problem way back.

I had a similar problem about 5 years ago. My V1 would alert to K band from behind every now and then. When I tried it in another car I could not replicate this behavior? I sent my V1 to VR and they could not find any faults with it at all.

Then I found the problem. My car was fitted with a motion sensor that was located in the middle of my roof and that was causing my false K alerts.

Hope this helps you narrow your problem.
