    Default V1 on the way

After shipping back the 9500i and being a loyal Escort customer for 7 years, I decided to give the V1 a shot. It will be here shortly.

I started reading the owners manual a few times. All in all, my impression the V1 has less gadgets than the Escorts.

    My first question:

    1. What's the best mode to run it on? I see "Auto", "Logic" and "Advanced" Logic. I do not want all the false alerts associated with X-band

    Ok, here is another question.

What happens if I drive towards a known stationary K-band speed sign and there is a Ka ambush near by?

    What would the band show?

    question # 3:

So from what I read so far, you can either go to a mode that will filter x-band or you can SHUT OFF X-BAND all together?

I'd be interested in shutting it off all together, is that a function V1 offers?

Sorry for all he noob questions, I'm just used to the Escorts. Heck I can custom program an X50 in 40 seconds now....

    Both:

The V1 would show the K band alert... just like a normal one.

Then u would hear a 'dee-doop' (whatever onomatopoeia u wish to describe the 2nd bogey lock tone)...

And the Ka band would light up, and a number 2 would be displayed in the bogey count. With both the K/Ka light up.

The V1 would then tell you the greater threat (probably the Ka) by blinking that threats band indicator... (and the corresponding arrows to its direction).

    Pretty nifty stuff.

Yes, you can shut off X band completely on the V1.

Yeah, the V1 is much harder to program/select bands then the escort.

No on-the-fly stuff with the V1 (except to change modes).

I'm very happy with advanced logic mode (the big "L"). Yesterday, while on "L" mode, I received an X-band alert with only 2 dots on the signal meter. I thought this was quite suspicious, as "L" mode mutes nearly all X-band alerts unless they're over 5 dots. I soon found a LEO pulled over on the other side of the road with flashing lights and a victim, emitting X-band...

They use all three bands of radar around Tampa here, but if you want to completely turn off any band, you can do that... if you're sure it's not used where you travel.

    Good luck...

This was a local PD in or around Dunedin, on McMullen Booth Rd. The only other confirmed positive X-band alert I've ever received here was in Tarpon Springs, on US-19.

    I'm in Northern California.

They use K and Ka exclusivly here, no x.

Laser is rare, but still being used.

Looking forward to test this new toy.
