Default Just put myself on the waiting list for a returned V-1

I bought an Escort 8500 non X50 when it first came out almost 6 years ago. Last September, it was stolen from my car and I've been driving naked for almost a year (except for my blinder laser jammer). Now, i think the new Escort looks neat, but I'm not sure if the bugs are worked out yet, so I will test drive the V-1. Any advice on settings/ etc? I am worried about too many false alarms. Differences between Logic and A-Logic modes? I hear advanced logic is the best for urban areas, but really, I liked the Escort's Auto mode, I just set it and didn't worry about it. Also, is the mini display worth it? Seems to me it may be hard to see because it is so small. Any input? Thanks.

Is the price difference for a returned one considerably less? Didn't know you could do that. Do you have to call them?

interesting. Did they give you a ballpark timeframe? weeks, months?

( sorry to jack the thread, though I have been known to do that on other forums )

I've only owned a v1, so I cannot tell you the differences between the x50 and v1, but I'll speak from personal experience of owning a v1. I honestly don't think the falsing is as bad as it is portrayed, once you get the hang of reading the alerts, you can weed out the falses from the real threats on your own, and the arrows really help in determining a false from the real thing. I, personally, like that as I don't want a computer determining the threat level of an alert, I want to do that myself. I've turned on the K band automute for 30 seconds, which you can do that via programming and that cuts down on the falses when you run in little l or big L.
Speaking of those logic modes, A mode will alert to all threats at regular volume, little l mode will alert to a threat (flash leds but at low, muted volume (the volume you set with the dial in the back) until such time as the threat becomes greater (either 4 or 6 bars - whichever you set it to) then it will alert at the higher regular volume (that you set with the control knob itself). Big L mode will not even show the alert until the comp feels its a larger threat. I personally love little l, as it lets me see the alerts but doesn't alert at a high volume. Hope others can fill in my gaps and correct my misinformation (which I don't believe I have, but I might).

Oh, I forgot to mention, as far as I know, little l and big L only affect the v1 alerts to x band and k band only when k automute is on. The logic modes don't affect the alerts to Ka.

    hello,

You'll like it, I own both a 8500 (non-x50) and the V1. Once you get hooked on the rear protection and arrows there will be no going back. Yes, they hear more non-LEO signals but then it sees a lot more since it has two horns. On the road, I use A mode, Little L in smaller villages and cities, Large L when in larger cities. Rarely do I use anything but A, I am use to knowing where the non-LEO signals are and except to hear them. If I don't, then something is wrong.

    Take care,

    Spin
