    Default V1 vs. X50 - X50 wins!!

Of course very unscientific but I bought a V1 to potentially replace my 3 year old X50. Found a speed sign on the highway shooting k band and decided to do some testing. First I ran the V1 in all bogey mode and noted where I got the first alert heading toward the sign(facing me). Went a couple of miles to the next exit and came back from the other direction and did the same. X50 was not mounted or powered while doing this.
Turned around, took down the V1 and mounted the X50 in the same spot on the windshield set to Highway mode. The X50 actually alerted approximately 60 to 80 feet before the V1 did both heading toward the sign as well going the opposite way the sign was facing.
V1 did continue to alert about .2 miles past the sign going the opposite direction than the X50 did though.
I'm a little surprised and disappointed. I'll do more testing but maybe sending the unit back afterall.

60 to 80 feet out of how many miles?

I know the distance is negligible, I just expected the V1 to kick the X50's butt.

I thought that the difference in performance between theses two is negligible in regards to radar. In some cases detection of K or different Ka may be better by the X50 but bottom line is that they both provide ample alert time.

However, the V1 does kick a$$ when it comes to laser detection

This was my reason for purchasing the V1 8)

    ALSO
I know the v1 alerts to I.O. the very split second the trigger is pulled..
Ive never seen this tested on a x50 so I cant say the x50 is as good detecting IO as fast as a v1..

It was a fluke that the X50 alerted quicker than the V1 to K band, a 1 out of 1000 chance.

My V1 beats my 8500 on K band by quite some distance. My 8500 also misses quick trigger pulls quite often on 34.7 Ka, while my V1 alerts instantly everytime.

I own a V1 3.858 and an escort 8500X50 rev. 5. They are neck and neck in K band period. V1 is better in all remaining bands and laser.
