V1 won't operate with the Smartcord?

Now this is weird...on Wednesday I plugged my V1 into the Porsche's cigarette lighter with the Smartcord, and it wouldn't turn on. I figured, oh well, the outlet doesn't work. Nobody's used it in years, I mean it's a race car, how often do you plug something into the outlet? The only reason I tried was that I was driving it all the way up to Foreign Affairs, actually the first time in years it had gone more than a few miles on public roads.

So I went back to using it in my VW and didn't think anything more about it...until this evening, when I plugged the Smartcord into the 12V outlet on the truck, because the VW is in the shop getting some fresh shiny new paint. The truck has two 12V outlets, so I tried both of them. Nothing. I even have an older Smartcord, so I tried that on both 12V outlets. Nothing. The Garmin charges from either outlet, they obviously both work.

So is there any reason why a V1 that is otherwise perfectly functional would refuse to operate from a Smartcord, only my hardwire?

It isn't you, it is just the way it is. I should power up with it, but you cannot mute or change modes.

Huh? What do you mean, "it's just the way it is"? It doesn't power up at all on either Smartcord, even though it used to (last time I used the Smartcord before the Porsche was about two weeks ago and it worked perfectly).

Are the fuses blown? Is any power getting to the plug? You wouldn't happen to have a Belscort unit around, would ya?

The Smartcord fuses or the 12v fuses? Because I've tested it with 12v outlets that I've confirmed have power.

Check where the RJ-11 plug goes into the power adapter. I had a similar problem, which turned out to be one of the pins on the female end of the V1 power adapter was pushed up too far and not making contact with the RJ11 plug. I used a thin paper clip to move it back into place and it worked fine after that.[/list]

No, the cigarette lighter adapters were working fine, I checked.
