Default Interesting Information About The V1

This information came from "jfb" a Corvette forum member. He is supposedly an electrical engineer from Cincinnati, Oh.

"I would like to add that the Escort 8500 will NOT alert at a longer distance than a V1. This has been proven by independent tests. I know it won't because I built the calibrated microwave test equipment for Valentine Research Inc. and I have seen every radar detector tested for the minimum signal they will detect at and the V1 beats every detector out there. The reason is that Michael Valentine is a fanatic (his term, not mine) and he has always wanted the most sensitive radar detector available. As a matter of fact, the Escort 8500 comes very close to the sensitivity of the V1, but only because they are illegally using the Valentine patented frequency mixing scheme of the V1, Escort couldn't find a way to do it otherwise. I asked Mike why he didn't sue Escort, and he said the expense is very high and the outcome is in the hands of people that are not technically competent.

When you increase the sensitivity of a radar detector, you also alert on services that share the police radar bands, mostly door openers in shopping centers. Microwave door openers don't look any different that police radar guns (except for some really old door openers)."

    conspiracy theory #1

hey u never know if escort finally realized that they couldn't outdo Mikey V. and they paid him big bucks on the low to teach them his secret with an agreement that he wouldnt but not make any RD more powerful than the v1.

so his patent is insurance that their RD's dont have greater sensitivity than the v1, like no double cross.

this way he keeps his company and his name going and makes a hot quick dime off of escorts business.

basically he is the master :!:

    I agree!

Didn't know the story behind Escort. V1 is the simply the best as always on all Radar Bands and Laser over any RD anyday.

Mike V really is the master and a genius.

I don't buy it. Belscort currently has a slew of radar detector local oscillator and mixer design patents.

If one is not willing to defend his patent WHY spend the money getting it in the first place?

Exactly. And not only that, if this thing which JAZZY posted was true then Valentine could literally knock all 8500s, Vectors and the 9500i off the market if he were to win such a lawsuit. Even if there is any merit to what JAZZY posted, one should consider that Belscort holds a slew of LO and mixer design patents and that there is a possibility that Valentine could be found to be infringing on some of Belscort's patents. Besides, lawsuits in this industry would put companies into the spotlight and once again we might see more politicians proposing RD bans.

The statement above is SO TRUE. This ESPECIALLY applies to the jammer industry
