The arrows are excellent on the highway, but useless for me in an urban enviroment. I really don't trust them.

I've been using a V1 for the past 4 years and recently tried switching to the Escort 9500ix and Bel GX65 because I thought I wanted a detector that falsed less in the city. I ended up going back to the V1. As everyone has mentioned, once you get used to having the arrows it's hard to live without them. Valentine has built a wonderful product that has stood the test of time.

Default V1 requires a thinking person to use it

Totally agree! V1 was great on the way to Myrtle beach but once I got close to the small towns before the beach all I got were beeps and flashing arrows(X and K) for 20 miles almost non stop with one save(Ka). I thought the LEDs were gonna burn out and my wife and kids were gonna wake up.
