Valentine One in North Jersey...

Hi all,

I was told to not even bother with a radar detector in north jersey because "most of the cops use laser".

Now I don't really want to deal with a laser jammer, so how effective is the Valentine in a populuous area like North Jersey.....I would think that the constant traffic would protect me from instant-on methods (cop would be checking other cars in front of me).

How fast can I safely go in a 65 zone? a 40 zone? 55?

I'm on the fence about picking one of these up for my new M5...feedback and guidance needed!

You can drive as fast as you want too. I live in South Jersey and I only know that the State Police have laser. I have not seen any locals with Laser.

Yeah, most LEO's use laser on the highways.

The V1 is very effective in a populus area like Jersey if you know how to use a rabbit, but you still gotta watch it because NJSP are jery good at I/O although mostly used on, again, the highway.

You can 'get away' with doing 15 over PSL in some areas, only 5 in others. You have to know your territory.

Whatever you decide, you'd be doing yourself a favor to get any mid to high end radar detector.

About one time in a thousand shots. It's nothing to count on, that's for sure. Probably never happen to you in your lifetime.

Honestly, I have driven the turnpike and GSP and never been hit with laser, I don't drive north too much, but typically I come by more X. I think it is the luck of the draw.

I think this is being generous. The only time I had scatter was when the LEO was in front of me shooting the cars behind. I was only 15 feet from the front of his gun.

it can pick up scatter from other cars if poople in front of u are being shot...the only defense is a laser jammer...i suggest u attend out NJ meet the 12th if u are free so u see different set ups and shoot the same lidar guns NJSP and the rest of the US's police forces use....
