Three J's alert?

I was coming home from Galveston for three days for vacation.

I'm very confused about the J's alert I got for the last few months in the speed trap capitol of Texas (Diboll) on U.S. 59. I've never got J alert before but in this huge speed trap town only.

We're in the same lane as the Cop about 200 yards away shot I/O once then turned it off after 5 seconds later then got J alert. All three J alerts happened in the south part of the town. I'm wondering if they're using I/O effectively like turning it off very fast and V1 label it as J alert?

Any Texans in here got J alert in this ridiculous speed trap or could it be coincidence where I got it from Cobra in the same place?

By the way, I got like 4 mile Ka alert from a Sheriff using rear antenna. I'm amazed by this since I haven't got my V1 tuned in two years.

99.9% chance you encountered Cobra(s). Wether or not it was more than one unit, I don't know. It could easily have been more than one because of how many Cobras are beinng sold or it could have been one somewhat older unit that leaks horribly. If you are miserable because of the J-outs, you can always turn POP off. But users (including me) advise against it, in the likely event you run across POP.

Even if it was legitimate MPH POP, the gun would have to be wildly out of tune for the V1 to register it as "Junk".

Did you turn it off because you were getting an atrocious number of J-outs, or just because someone said you should? Disabling POP is generally not a very good idea, especially in Texas.

That said, it sounds weird to me. I agree that most J-outs are Cobras, but it seems clear that you were encountering actual radar, so this is something that needs to be figured out!

I have done a lot of Ka quick-triggering of the V1 and never had it J-out, so I don't think that is what was happening.

There have been other reports of LEO J-outs here and there, but none of them confirmed what radar was being used, that I can recall. When I get back to Floridia, I'm going to do some POP testing on various detectors and see what happens.

I can not believe that YEARS later we are still facing J outs with the V1. That is ridiculous. Firmware 3.819 was supposed to rectify J outs but they still exist, WTH? NO EXCUSE VR!

when i first drove into maine I J'd out twice on real radar...they use 34.7 Ka...idk y but i just turned my v1 off and on and it never happened again
