    Default V1 Temperature Sensitivity

I've had a V1 for a few weeks now, got it used on ebay. Its the 1.8 POP2 version although I haven't checked the firmware.

I was on my way to work this AM and it was near freezing, I had let the V1 stay in the car overnight (hidden of course.) I was over at the GFs house so was much closer to work than usual. Anyway I cross by a radar speed sign on a daily basis it uses K band. Today as I was prepared to mute my V1 I went by the sign and NOTHING, not a peep! The sign was displaying speed correctly etc. The sad thing was it detected the X band from the security/door at the grocery store seconds later.

After the day warmed up I drove by again at lunch time, detected just fine.

Anyone else experience the cold weather symptoms? I seem to remember reading about the heat having this effect but not the cold? I also thought they put some circuitry to correct for the temp differential in the V1.8s?

what version is your V1... when u buy from ebay you should send it in for a "check up"
I believe its only your v1, I never had that problem before... the operating temp range is pretty wide...

I have ridden my motorcycle in 5 (F) degree weather with a V1 and never had a problem.

My V1 3.826 performs better when its kept cool.

In the summer months I have noticed when It gets hot the detection range goes down slightly

Just checked the version, it is 3.825.

Pretty disappointing, was having issues again this evening. How much does a tune up cost and what is the turnaround time?

Hopefully I can get this resolved quickly, nothing worse than a false sense of security :P

Hmmm after visiting the faq on the V1 web site I had a thought, perhaps the moisture is the issue? I live in Portland and the temp just dropped. Lots of condensation and perhaps the moisture is the problem. I will try taking the V1 inside for a couple days see if the performance increases.

Just bite the bullet and send it in to VR. That way you'll KNOW it's working as it should.

You'll miss it but you'll live...

If moisture is the issue taking it inside won't help. Because when you take it back outside the drastic temperature change may result in the same thing.

If he lets it warm up inside, any moisture inside would theoretically evaporate and disperse. When he takes it out to his car in the morning, it will be warmer than the air around it, so the moisture in the air won't condense on it. If there is still any moisture inside, as the case cools first, any moisture would condense on the inside of the case, not the circuits.

It may help him figure out if it's a temperature or moisture problem if it works after keeping it inside, but probably won't help him fix the problem permanently.
