First look at the Headline, I thought you were talking about housing for Michael Moore!

Anyway, I believe the SLIM housing is before laser was introduced on the BOTTOM of the V-1.

I believe the slim, short housing is the most recent model. The fat, lengthy version is the earlier casing design.

My first V1 was pretty thin.
When I first upgraded to Laser, it was enlarged (made taller, top to bottom, which is what is surely meant by "fatter," even though that term is usually used to designate wider, or larger from one side to the other).
Upon some subsequent upgrade, the size reverted to something much closer to its original size, but of course still included laser detection.

That is correct. Both can be upgraded. VR just found a way to make the internals more compact, as part of it's continual process to keep ahead of the curve.

Technically speaking there are TWO slim versions and one thicker one. Two slims V1's are the 1.6 and 1.8. Thicker one is 1.7.

the older V1's had several laser eye receivers on the "bottom" of the unit.
The new ones have one big fat one that works much better.
