    Default V1 in the cold?

Here's a question for all my cold-weather friends out there. We recently moved to Denver, and while I wouldn't leave my GPS in the car anyway due to theft concerns, I had previously left my V1 in the car all the time (the mount is pretty damn hard to spot from outside, and the V1 itself is concealed at all times).

Considering that it can get pretty bleepin' cold up here at night (it's been as low as -2 F since we moved up here two weeks ago), should I take my V1 out of the car every time, or would it be ok left in its visor pouch? I haven't had it in the car since we moved up here (I work from home now and rarely drive more than to the grocery store), but I'd like to continue leaving it in place. If any of you other cold-weather drivers have an opinion, please share it!

It should be fine. My detectors have gotten down to about 14 degrees F with no issues...and i leave my GPS in the car with no issues either (except maybe theives). lol. I think it should be fine

I would love input on this too.

My V1 is out of tune already--didn't detect a speed sign in Florida--but I'm going to send it in for a tune-up soon. What exactly makes a RD go out of tune? Thermal variations within the unit?

Be it extreme heat or cold I bring my V1, Redline and other RD's inside, if my car is ever left outside my garage for an extended amount of time, overnight, or on trips in these type of conditions.

If it's just for a couple of hours, I wouldn't worry about it.. It may not really matter, but I like to be on the safe side. jmo

While there are min/Max operating temperatures that electronics can be exposed to I would not feel comfortable leaving a $400.00 device in either how hard is it to unplug it and take it in the house?

I've been erring on the side of caution and keeping it inside since we got here. Was mostly checking to see if others who live in really cold climates have left their V1's plugged in with no ill effects, or if bringing it in is the right call. Looks like it is.

I guess we're fine, but you could err on the side of safety/paranoia?

To me heat has always been worse than cold to any electronics I have owned... We have been having the same -temps for a fair amount of time, and I let me V1 warm up slowly with the car before I turn it on... and I have had no issues. I found in the cold it works even better too.

I agree with AirMoore, I would be more concerned with hot temps than low temps, I'm convinced that extreme hot temps can cause you V1 to go out of tune. I leave my V1 in my car most of the time but remove it when it's really hot and the car will sit in the sun or we are in a really cold spell. The spec sheet provided by Chriskohtc is very helpful. In Connecticut it generally does does not drop close to the low end temp but could get close to the high end temp range if my car was left in the sun. I've been using my V1 for 12 plus years and this has worked for me.
