I'm wondering how much heat it can take? I don't want to damage it, so it's probably bad to leave it on the windshield. I have a black interior. Does it stay any cooler in the glovebox? What do you guys do with it?

The V1 can handle heat quite well, assuming the temperature "limits" are legit in the manual. I haven't personally had any issues due to heat.
One thing that I did do, which did help keep it cool while running, was placing behind my tint strip and guiding some AC towards it. When I'm not using it, it goes under my seat. If I'm home, it goes inside with me.

Yes, the glove box does help because it is not baking in the direct sun, which can get so hot that one can not handle the V1 because it is a flat black and loves the heat. Keep the V1 as cool as you can because what I think happens is that the electronic values change slightly after new, buring the V1 in causes the super hert feedback to dumb down the unit thus may need to be adjusted slightly when one year old after a full summer heat and still under warrenty. But a good burn in maybe good to get the unit stable for long term usuage before a final one year adjustment for the unit does not seem to change as much afterwards unless dropped. Again, just what I have noticed and is solely my thoughts...(P.S.- all adjustments do dumb down after slight usage)

I use a modified vent to direct cool air onto it when driving then take it out when not in vehicle.
Mine is behind the tint but when I get out I take it down and put it in my compartment.
Park in the shade. If you can't, take it with you or put it in the trunk or glove box.
I guess I won't be leaving mine on my bike during the day.
I just put mine in the glove box. It's out of the direct sunlight, and being in a semi-enclosed space with some mass around it should help to slow down the temperature changes. It never feels like I could fry an egg on it after sitting in the glove box, unlike when I accidentally leave it up.
Open air is better than in a car, but isn't that basically the same as leaving four $100 bills sitting out for anyone to take?
