Spoke with VR today and the 3.891 upgrade is now available. 3.864 and 3.872 units will cost $139 + shipping to upgrade. I did not inquire about older units.

Dang it!! now I got to find some way to explain to the wife how I'm going to spend $139 on more CM's LOL
I may wait until TAX return season that way there will be allot more testing done, but It sure does seem like the 3.891 is HOT!!!

Im going to throw my serial number (3.864) in their little box and see what it tells me? Probably the same as its always said! Yep i was right
STATUS REPORT ON YOUR [replacer_img]
Serial Number
V1 Description: Radar circuitry known in-house as V1.8—POP2 with Euro Mode. This is our latest and best performer on both radar and laser. Upgrade Recommendation: You already have our best.
I still would like some quick official testing of this new 3.891 to see the differance from older versions like 3.864 ect.....

What happened to 3.892 ??
Seeing how they want $140 to upgrade a 1.5 month old detector lends credence to a past post where someone surmised that VR is waiting out the 30-day period on the last of the shipped 3.872s to avoid a free upgrade. That sucks.
This is why I'm still skeptical about the purported K & Ka band performance increases some of you guys are reporting. There is a big contradiction here being that VR is a very reputable company. Why wouldn't they admit making strides in radar performance capabilities? Isn't performance the name of the game? Bragging rights?
If I really wanted to upgrade my .872 and not much testing has been done yet to prove If the upgrade increases performance then I would probably buy a new V1 and test it myself compared to my current V1. Then return the new unit and decide if I want the upgrade or not.
I just dont understand VR's way either? Here you have a legit upgrade to some people, 1-being the K band Drones and 2-The L feature what people believe is a Laser filter--How in the world will 90% of V-1 owners out there with older units fighting these Drones ever know about this new upgrade especially if they dont visit this site? Seems like V-1 doesnt want anyone to know about these upgrades and not worried about making a few $$$ as well--I just dont get it. Guess thats the diff between a Mom & Pop shop and the Big Dawgs like Beltronics and Escort--Put arrows on either one of their top line units and Im history Mr.V-1

It's quite simple actually. V1 has a website and and a phone number. Imagine a customer calling and asking if there are any upgrades available to the V1. The problem I am seeing over and over these days is that people feel they are "entitled" to certain things. Most of the RD owners that don't know of forums like this one will never think to upgrade. It's no fault of VR. It is what it is. For those of us who do use these forums, VR will likely see a spike in upgrades.
For the people who make threats to purchase a different brand, please just do so. Your actions will speak louder than a bunch of words you post on the internet.
Mr. Valentine, if you are reading this, thank you for your efforts and keep up the great work. I will certainly upgrade my V1 and plan on calling tomorrow.
