Damn man that sucks. I can't imagine the V1 being illegal here, I would be pissed. But if I HAD to get another detector I'd get the redline.
I had called Valentine in April 2011 and was told they are working on it. Now maybe its like the D.O.T. there where things take a long time.
Well we'll see what happens. So far I've pulled together all the documentation that I could find on this issue and written letters to local politicians, the FCC and the ACLU. Normally I wouldn't let something trivial like this bother me so much, but it truly is a bad law. I feel like I wouldn't be doing my part as an American if I didn't take the time to voice my opinion when I feel the government is overstepping it's boundaries.
For my personal defense, I'm lucky enough that the trooper recorded my plate incorrectly. Hopefully this will be enough to have the ticket thrown out. If not, I'll switch gears and call upon the case in Emporia where a precedent has already been set for this issue.
That's interesting that the V1 is so detectable, I wonder why it leaks so much. And yes, I don't expect a Spectre fix anytime soon, if ever. From a business perspective, why spend all the money on R&D when in 49 other states it's irrelevant. Mike has to make some money after all lol
You wern't reading the Guys of Lidar website. Here's their RDD tests and the bottom of this pageRadar Detector Tests and Reviews by Guys of LIDAR - LASER
It would be interesting to read some statistic of accidents
versus other state with similar population-road-millage.
The legislators installed such ban to make
life easier for leos ... with the help of insurances lobby.
O divine art of subtlety and secrecy!
Through you we learn to be invisible, through you inaudible;
and hence hold the enemy's fate in our hands.

No doubt the insurance lobby is behind the RD bans. We faced the same problem in Indiana but we got enough people to contact their legislators that the proposed ban never got out of the legislative committee. It's a lot easier to prevent a bad law from being passed than it is to repeal it after it has been passed.

VR owns a Spectre 3 RDD so I don't know what the holdup is? I spoke w/ Mike V face to face about the problem two years ago and informed me they know about the problem and are working on it. As we can all see, seems it fell upon deaf ears?
