Question Would you be interested in purchasing a new RD with Arrows from Escort?

    Hi fellow RD users!

I am a current user on the Escort Radar forum and I recently created a poll there trying to find out if people would be interested if Escort created a new RD with arrows similar to the V1. I am trying to branch out to other sites to get all types of radar detector users (not just current Escort users). Right now I am trying to encourage Escort to create a detector with arrows. If you are interested in seeing a well established company such as Escort improve upon the V1 and make their own version please vote "you WOULD be interested"!

The title of the poll I created is:

Would you be interested in purchasing a new radar detector with threat location arrows from Escort similar to the V1 arrows?

    Here is the link:
Threat Location Arrows (TLA) on a new detector Poll - Escort Radar Forum

Keep in mind that this detector would hopefully be better than the current V1and will have possible integration with Escort Live with all the benefits it brings such as the ability to track and report threats and lock out falses. Think a better version of the V1 that gives less falses. It hopefully would have an expert meter where it would list the frequencies of the threats. All things the current V1 does not have.

    Cheers

The only way I would purchase a RD from Escort with Arrows is if they can include a rear antenna. I don't have experience with the Redline or STi Magnum, but I hear it has amazing front facing radar. I would love to have a RD that picks up even more radar signal than the V1 from the front if it can cover me on all the bases. The reason I love the V1 is because you have great coverage of radar that is equal in terms of front and rear protection of your vehicle.

Also, I have a different view on the RD display. I like your take on an improved display
It hopefully would have an expert meter where it would list the frequencies of the threat.
However, I would like an automatic switch display mode that alternates between the Signal Strength Meter and Expert Meter/ Spec Display to Expert Meter/ Spec Display to Signal Strength Meter and vice versa based on user configuration. Give me more options by making my display even more customizeable. I want a RD that can seriously cover my behind with a display that rivals the Bogey Counter of the V1.

I'm sure the integration with Escort Live is nice, but I would like an alternative using the Waze app navigation app to display fixed cameras, your speed with a speedometer, and the actual display of the RD unit like Escort Live or RadarActive. You could even report police traps with live mapping of areas.

The only thing stopping me from buying a product from Belscort is that they price their products way too high (I don't wanna pay an extra $100 just for a GPS or "Total Shield Technology") and they make their models obsolete (Excluding the new Redline, STi Magnum, and the 9500ix models). If can they make a product that is priced at $400 like the V1 with all these features and performance improvements I mentioned before, then I may think twice about adding a Belscort model to my arsenal. Until then, Arrows and Bogey Counter FTW.

As far as I know in order to get the RD to detect the location of a threat you do have to have two antenna (one rear and one front). It works like using your ears to find the location of a sound. If Escort did make a RD with arrows it most likely would have two antenna.

I agree with this. If Escort did make a detector like this hopefully it will be customizable.

Escort Live is a great product but it needs a lot of work. I use Escort Live but run Waze as my foreground app. Waze is an amazing product. I wrote a post in the Escort forum about Waze being a role model for Escort Live. Even though Live has a long way to go one of the great benefits of it is locking out falses. Think of your V1 falsing a lot less. Wouldn't that be great?

I do agree Escort prices their products on the high end. One of Escorts current reason for not bringing a V1 type detector to the market is because they believe that having an additional antenna (two total) it would be prohibitively expensive. When asked if they could bring it around the price point Valentine is asking for their V1 detector I so far have not gotten an answer. There should be no reason why they can't make a similar RD as the V1 that is competitivly priced. Unless of course they add a lot more technology then the V1. In this case it would make sense it would be more expensive. They also believe there is not enough of a market for a V1 type product. I do not know if they are being serious, they really do not know, or they are intentionally being naive.

This is why I am trying to get others to go to the Escort forum and vote! Asking current Escort RD users who for whatever reason decided against other RDs (Valentine included) are a biased group. Most of the users on that forum like me are Escort customers. Just as me comming on this site in the Valentine section of the forum and asking for your opinion on the V1 vs an Escort product. This forum would of course be naturally biased as well. Most people voting on this topic from the Escort forum are people who do not see value in tools (such as arrows) assisting the RD user in locating the exact (or more specific ) location of the threat. More situational awareness is a good thing. However most people are ok with just Beep!

I think Valentine has a great product but I believe they will not last long because Valentine is putting all their Eggs in one basket with their one trick pony the V1. For years it really does not appear they are trying to innovate or try something new. This is different then other RD companies out there. Escort is a bigger more established company and I think they would do well with adding a V1 type detector to compliment their arsenal of detectors. Some like me are afraid of buying a V1 because we believe Valentine will go belly up do to lack of innovation. As far as I know Valentines patent for the arrows ended at the beginning of this year. If Valentine does not innovate they will probably end up like most companies who refuse to innovate and change with the times... ultimate demise. Seems like the Valentine CEO is just collecting your cash and just riddin it out with some software tweaks here and there.

I think having a V1 type product with a expert spec mode coupled with Escort Live would be awsome! Do you agree? Please vote on the Escort forum?

Let me think about this......firstly escort need to get the radar detection thing sorted first of all I/O detection is shockingly bad lidar is not good either. The redline is good at detecting radar yes but only the basic radar meaning C/O. Now IMO the main reason why BELL and ESCORT have not done this (arrows) to date is because they can’t do it better than VR otherwise they would of. If they do release an arrow radar detector it I will buy one because it will be better than the V1. Otherwise why do one........So to conclude we live in hope.

Oh BTW txbearsfan81 have you not herd of the V1 esp?

I don't want alternating displays of Expert and Spec. I want both on the screen full time.

Oh...and on the arrows....yeah...totally would be interested in buying that.

Well if Escort can incorporate a combined display with all 3 display modes (Signal Strength Meter, Expert Meter, and Spec Display) full time with arrows that would be the perfect upgrade. Also, they need to step up their game and allow the RD to detect 10 sources with on the ExpertMeter mode. Maybe Escort RDs can detect 3 KA, 3 K, and 4 X band sources stock. If you live in an area where you don't need X Band, the detector should be able to detect at least 5 KA and 5 K band sources. Their company has a lot of room for improvement. Also, a performance upgrade in terms of I/O would be required to be in the same playing field as the V1.

Just for the record the arrows saved my ass last week when I passed a stationary LEO running radar to find out he followed me after I made a left turn on a major highway road. In addition to picking up 1 rear KA source, I also picked up another front facing KA source about 1.5 miles down the road. Come to find out there two LEOs were sitting in a parking lot with one of them running radar. I back tracked and noticed all three LEOs just sitting there waiting for some fool to speed on by. If it wasn't for the arrows, I would have been screwed because I was well over the speed limit (15 over 45mph). For those who believe arrows are a gimmick need to look beyond the Belscort advertising and come to the dark side

Mista, this is a good example! Let Escort know about this example by voting in my poll and letting your voice/examples be heard. There is an Escort rep who comes on there that reads our posts and makes posts himself. He does say he communicates our ideas back to management and the development team. So if you have ideas, concerns or problems post on there, but for all of us looking for a better version of the v1 please vote "you WOULD be interested".

If Escort does come out with a V1 type detector it most likely will have better tech. Well hopefully.

Ghz1, I haven't heard of it. I actually don't own a Valentine Radar. I was going to buy one because I saw tremendous value in a tool that let me know more specifically where a threat is and if there are more than one. However as I said earlier I think Valentines days are numbered because of their choice not to innovate and diversify their portfolio of detectors. They have one detector which is great but its been the same detector for years short of software updates. If other companies who are bigger and better off wanted to make their own version of the V1 with better tech it may possibly be a death knell for Valentine. They most likely would be KO'ed. I didn't want to drop $399 on one of their detectors when there patent expired at the end of this year. However, surprisingly no company (including Escort) is showing any interest in making a better V1. Its surprising to me. But like the old Transformer cartoon used to say there may be "more that meets the eye". Something may be going on at Escort or other companies but they are remaining hush hush.

But no, I have not heard of the V1 Esp. Is it a different version of the V1?

The later models of the V1 have a new innovation which they call esp "extended serial protocol" this allows third party software developers to write programmes (maybe apps) for the V1. Everything you have said has been covered and some. EG distance of radar source. So we should not judge a book by its cover.....

I'd be a lot more interested if one actually existed!
