Default My V1 is sick :(

Mine is a 3.863 bought as refurb from VR 5 years ago.

The main display is not working properly. The only thing on the display that works is the bogey counter. The rest will stay blank (or very faint flashing if you look hard enough) even in programming mode when the entire display should light up nice and bright initially. My V1 is getting power from the cigarette lighter outlet at the center console. My car has fuel saving engine stop/start feature and I wonder if too many ons and offs during rush hour traffic will kill the V1 since the outlet is switched. Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot the problem before sending it back to VR for repair? Thanks!

Sounds like it needs repair. Not sure about damage caused by frequent on/offs, but that has to be annoying. You might want to consider wiring in a make-on-break switch that will only turn it off after an elapsed time passes (some are time adjustable).

    Just a thought here.

Maybe check your vehicles voltage first ?

Does this include a tune up and firmware upgrade?

Does it do the same thing in another car? Need to perform some basic troubleshooting first. If it is broken, send it in.

AFAIK you pay $199 for upgrades. You want to repair it.

If you wire it up to Savvy then it should stay on. My stays on for an extra 15 seconds after i turn the key off

This does not include the upgrade. I have bought over a dozen broken V1s here in Fairfax Virginia.

They break and people put them for sale on Craigs thinking I am an idiot for buying them. They never checked to see the price to get it fixed. Been a a while since I did this..

Does not matter what the issue is they well charge you $50 to fix it.

It also really depends on where you live. There are certain parts of the Country when upgrading is a waist of money.
