pro 58 display

I picked up a whistler pro 58 and have been having a problem with it. Normally when it's on and detects radar it sounds an alert and highlights which band it's detecting. Now it'll sound the alert but the display goes dead. About ten seconds after the alert is over the highway "h" will reappear. It displays all bands on the power-up self-test perfectly. Anyone run into this? I purchased it online at circuitcity.com so the warranty exchange will probably be a hassle, plus I hate the idea of driving without the thing...this model was $140 and maybe you get what you pay for...any replies would be appreciated...

Sounds like you are in DARK mode. Read your instructions and reset it for DIM or BRIGHT.

Funny...I used the radar detector this morning at work driving around and figured out that I was accidentally in dim mode...then I logged on and read this...thanks! Might as well give my opinion on the detector while I'm here...seems like a good bang for the buck (I was too cheap to go for the STI Driver) and has saved my a$$ a few times (local police around here use KA band).
