Yeah, empirically I've experienced some sort of alert priority or random swapping between alerts... I just want to know definitively what exactly goes on.

It's not the new generation (XTR-690 or PRO-78 ), but my 1793SE has really impressed me over the past year.

My results support the notion that SIGNAL STRENGTH takes priority over RF band.

Hmm with my experience with my 1793SE, it seems to be random flickering that takes over -- if a mall has X and K band door openers, it'll flip between X and K every 15 seconds-ish.

Hmm my experiences don't corroberate it. I've been in a parking lot with X and K signals and they will randomly show up -- like the detector will alert to a few seconds of X band, then move to Ka, then jump to K, then move back to X, etc.

i know of stores which have x and k and mine starts with x and stays on k. no more x once k is detected.

Aha, turns out I actually ASKED whistler about this over a year ago:

    4) The strongest signal is detected and reported as what band it is – while the unit is alarming to this signal and a new source is detected the unit will remain alarming at the first signal until that signal goes away.
This is from John Nolan of Whistler. So when multiple signals are detected at the same time, the strongest is selected for alert. But after that, the detector locks into that signal regardless of what other radar is being picked up.

However, in my observation, after about 10 or so seconds of locking into a signal, my 1793SE tends to "lose" it for a second or two, then grab onto it again. I'm expecting if a stronger signal appared in this time, it would be presented to me.

My bel rx65 will bounce back and forth between K and X if it detects two radars sources in threat mode (the one with ramp signal display). however, in TECH mode (multiple signal display), it'll display both signals, but you'll only hear the audible alert for the K signal.
