    Default Sub 100 Dollars - XTR330 or Pro 58?

I saw good reviews on both of these units and also on the Bel 795, that Bel seems to be D/C and impossible to find, so I am trying to decide between the 2 (XTR330 and Pro 58). Which of these would be reccomended (or what else under 100?).

    thanks,
    Anks

i think they both are the same platform. add 50 bucks more and get a pro 78 or xtr 690, u will be really happy with what 50 bucks more will provide u.

from what I saw the changes are just voices and appearance for the Pro series, is it really worth 50 more without a gain in functionality or was I wrong about that?

The Pro78 and XTR690 have much better detection range than the two RDs you mentioned, by far.

I was curious about the differences between these two detectors as well....

Here is what I learned from Mike B.

Are all the new XTR series of detectors, such as the the: XTR-140, 220, 260, 330, and 500 based on the Pro 58/73 platform?

:!: The 330 and 500 are very similar in schematic however the horn in the 58/73 is larger and thus a bit more sensitive.

78 anf 690 is a total different platform compared to 58 or 330. the range and sensitivity is the best compared to any other whistler product.

78 for better visual display, 690 comes with compass though.

if you don't want to spend the extra ash (like I didn't), I like my xtr-330 quite a bit. I've got it mounted high, and I detect K and KA with enough time to slow down. I don't drive more than 15 over the PSL though.
