K-Band Test
XTR-695 Settings:
All bands ON, SR OFF, RSID, LSID, Filter
1793SE Settings:
All bands ON, SR OFF, Highway
Summary: Constant-On K-Band Over-the-Hill test involving an approx. 25' hill, straight roadway. Radar gun acquires speed of target vehicles as soon as they crest the hill. Each radar detector is tested alone on separate runs.
Results: 1793SE initially alerts approx. 0.76 miles from the radar gun, 0.4 miles before vehicle speed is acquired, 0.26 miles BEFORE the XTR-695's initial alert. The inital alert lasted for approx. 300', followed by 300' of silence, then a constant alerting condition ramping up nicely to full strength (9) just before visual contact.
XTR-695 initally alerts approx. 0.5 miles from the radar gun, 0.14 miles before vehicle speed is acquired, 0.26 miles AFTER the 1793SE's initial alert. The XTR-695 had a continuous alert only reaching strength 2-3 until the crest of the hill, where upon visual contact a full strength (9) alert is provided.
A 1605 and Cobra ESD 7000 were also tested. Both alerted upon visual contact... in other words, ZERO advanced warning. BEEP = TICKET!
