I am thinking of getting a whistler 1734 and are they good? Is the 1730 good too? Any problems with these models? Does it pick up radar signals pretty well? :?:

I would save your money and use it toward the PRO 58 or 73 instead if you are wanting to buy a Whistler unit.
Do they detect police radar better? Is it better than model DE 1730?
Absolutely, the 2 models you are looking at are Whistler's low end units.Originally Posted by Highyway-Patrol
The 1730 is a decent backup plan. It has good range on X and K, fairly low falsing, and just enough on Ka. Never been lasered with it. Don't know about the 1734.
If it's a primary you're looking at, go with the Pro-58. It's the same thing as the Pro-73, but $50 cheaper and without the really nice display.
I may just save my money and buy an escort x50 8500 because I see they get excellent reviews but the price will really damage my wallet.
You can't go wrong with an X50, RX-65, or V1.
If cash is really an issue and you don't want to spend $300+, the Bel Vector 995 is a good detector, as is the RX-55.
There's a good plan! All of the models that bcorby mentioned are excelent. The Whistler Pro units are decent for the money, but they are terrible about Ka falsing.Originally Posted by Highyway-Patrol
Is the Bel Vector 995 as good as, or better than the escort x50 8500?
