The days of lurking are over, I have finally registered. :) Since I've been reading the postings on this V1 section as well as the Escort section for the last couple months, I decided to take the plunge and order a V1! :D At the suggestion of someone here on the Forum, I called and ordered a refurb unit for $366 shipped. The guy that took my order said they have six orders for refurb units ahead of me but they'll ship me one as soon as one becomes available. Until then, I'm sitting tight, taking it slow in my C6 Corvette and putting my faith in my old (soon to be trashed) Bel. So who else here has ordered a refurb unit? How long did it take to arrive? Did it have the latest firmware?

Bigdave, I wouldn't just throw your Bel away just yet. Since Bel is my 2nd choice, I still haven't gotten rid of mine. What Bel unit do you have? If you have the Bel 745sti, then I might say to get rid of it as soon as your V1 comes. It is always nice though to have a backup especially when V1 has an upgrade. Mk

Welcome to the board Big Dave. Yes you will get the latest software with your "returned unit" which was what I did. I swear they sent me a new unit. Let us know if you can tell the difference from new or not. I agree, I would keep the bel as a back up.

Mike V is always working on making the V1 even better, for the first year or sometimes longer you can send it in for a free software upgrade. In that case you will want your BEL as a backup.

Welcome, BIG Dave. I purchased a refurb unit about a month ago as refered by davekr. He is correct that it sure looks like a new unit. Reading this board to me it sounds like brand new units seem to have more problems than the refurb. But that is just my opinion and I have only used my for about a month. I didn't think I would like it but now I can't be with out those arrows.

My unit took about 12 days after ordering to arrive in Cali. Again I love it and still learning everytime I use it but it is getting easier. Good luck. This board is loaded with info to help the novice RD user.

Bel 850STi. I purchased it in 1998 for $135. I certainly got my moneys worth out of it. Into the garbage it goes!

WOW! I called in my order Friday just 10 minutes before they closed, it shipped out Monday AM, and UPS tracking is showing it's scheduled for delivery today (Wednesday)! That's only three business days from the day I ordered it to my door! Can't beat that! :D

Okay, she arrived safely. Certainly doesn't look refurbed, looks brand-spankin' new! First impressions; smaller than I thought she would be, and that's a good thing! I used the suction cup mount alongside the rear-view mirror. I'll do a hardwiring this weekend, so for now I'm stuck with the silly looking wire hanging down. I think I'm falling in love with this V1...

Top notch class act all the way around.

The girlfriend already claimed it. I still have the first RD I ever owned though. It's called a Whistler Spectrum2. Looks kind of like a "marital aid device", if you know what I mean. ;) You can have that one. I PM'd you...

Well Big Dave, have you gotten any alerts yet? I'm ordering a V1 tommorow and I can't decide whether or not I want to get a new or used one. What are your impressions about the used one? I think it's more of a mindset I have that I wouldn't be buying a "brand new" one. Any pics??

She works flawlessly. Nothing about it looks used; the V1, the wires, the owners manual all look brand new. If it truly is used, the previous owner didn't even breathe on it. I would not hesitate buying another 'used' one.

I see nothing to be concened with when getting a returned unit! When they get it back it goes in the shop for complete test to make sure its working 100%. You will be fine
