Some people like to use a K-band automute, wherein the K-band alert is suppressed for a certain number of seconds, unless if reaches a certain signal strength. See this post (it's a sticky at the top of the forum).

Mike Valentine also has several pages of Lab Reports where you can tweak some of your settings.

This should give you some things to read about.

Also, consider hard-wiring your V1. I also have the Lifespeed-modified remote display which is outstanding, especially at night.

Welcome to the board.

I wouldn't recommend turing X-band off unless you are CERTAIN it isn't used in your area.

I have mine turned off here in FL, and it reduces the amount of alerts for door openers and other non-police stuff by a great margin.

I have to remember to cut it back on if I use my RD on a trip out of state.

I keep my X band turned on and put up with the "falses". I dont think X band is used much here (very rural) but I would hate to think that I was next to a store and getting X band from what I thought was a door opener and actually have the situation where our local cops dusted off a X band gun and me not being aware of it.

i did hard wire the v1 and also have the remote display
mounted the v1 high next to the rear view mirror and the heads up inside the cluster bezel.. the install was a brezze super easy took about 20 min.
i will post pics of my install soon

. I also have the Lifespeed-modified remote display

Lifespeed is a forum member who takes the remote display and replaces some of the red LEDs with different colors. For example, the X band LED is green, K band is yellow, Ka is red, and Laser is blue. My strength meter also has green for the first two LEDs, then yellow for two LEDs, and the rest are red. At night, it's much easier to tell which band is lighting up, in addition to the speaker tone. There's a sticky post in this section from Lifespeed about modified remote adapters.

I'm not sure what I think of it. I haven't enabled it yet on mine. If you search the forum, you should find some more insightful comments, especially from Jimbonzz.
