I was just wondering how many times any Illinois residents or people that have visited here have gotten a true X band warning, or if they're all false alarms. I live in Woodstock and was in McHenry lastnight on Rt 120, and let me tell you, I was in City Mode with Low X, but I still got hit numerous times. I think they were all falses though. It was weird though because after I got hit with the X Band, I got hit with a K Band at the same time (Exp. Mode). I know K Band may also be alarms and door openers. Have any of you IL residents completely turned off X Band, or is it still a common threat? BTW, I have looked at that one topic of all the states bands listings, and IL has X Band as last. Thanks for your advice.

I see alot of ka these days as the state police and others have upgraded. Sangamon county uses k and still a lot of old x band here and there. My son got hit with a x band just last night in Chatham where they are still in use. You know just as soon as you disable it you will get nailed by one.

I've never seen X on the highway, but it's rumored to exist. State police in this area have mostly gone to Ka or laser.

I live near Eastern Illinois University (EIU) and the EIU cops use X, so I leave it active. The only other place I've seen X used by cops is in Ohio.

I've gotten X band in my town. I confirmed it too, cop sitting (I assumed had pulled someone over and they parked in the parking lot) at batteries plus.

Which town do you live in?

It's very tempting to turn it off, but since Rockford isn't too far from me (Woodstock), I'll just have to deal with the falses.

Up until last July 05 I lived in Evanston and drove all over Cook/Lake/McHenry county as a corporate trainer. Never encountered X band there, just Ka. I did however grow up in Southern Illiinois and there are still some small towns there that used X band as recently as three years ago. Haven't been down there in a long time so I can't say what they are currently using. Like EIU, the leo's at SIU run (when I was there) X band.

I would leave X band on in IL just in case. You never really know when you will actually encounter x band but when you do, YOUR EYES WILL BE GLUED TO THERE GUN! Drive in IN and especially OH, AND YOUR CHANCES OF RUNNING INTO X BAND INCREASE!

Very little X band in Indiana. Only in very small towns just like anywhere else.

The Illinois State Police uses Instant On X Band all of the time , do not turn it off.
I pass on average 2 ISP troopers running instant on X Band on I394.
Also, when I pass through Steger, IL, several cars run X Band as well.

Are you sure about that? I don't think the ISP has any of the X band guns left. g_jammer I think you may have been picking up a false. I am yet to see any X band in any capacity by the ISP. Now the local suburban little towns maybe but not ISP. Maybe Compu44 can confirm, or any other Illinois resident.

This is not a false.
1 There are no X band or any band alert in these area's normally.
2 Alert only happens when I see a ISP cruiser parked along the road.
3 I get a full blast X band alert only for a few seconds as I apporach.
What do you call this? A false? I don't think so.
Turn off your X band and go speeding down I394, you'll see red and blue lights in your rear view mirror.

I wonder what way that we can find out if X band is in use by the ISP for sure. Not saying that I don't believe you g_jammer, but I wish that there was a way for definite confirmation.

rove around today w/ X on, over 340 miles worth throughout the NW suburbs, but no nibbles. I'm gonnna leave her on all next week, and report back. My territory is really all points S of Kenosha in WI, and down to say Hinsdale area in IL, all the way to the lake, and out West as far as say Rockford. So far today I was just aggrevated by the new frequent X falses, as I have had it off up till now. I will post bnack w/ results. 8)

I know x band can be a pain but getting an x band ticket is probably worse.

As of 9/2006, ISP still had X. I travelled I57 From I80 to Carbondale every weekend from 2/06 to 9/06 and had real X hits all the time.

Just Ran across X-band again on I394 South by ISP.
The vehicle looked like a 2003 model year Crown Vic.
The trooper was parked behind a traffic control device in a construction zone, the device signaled the end of the Right lane.
The officer sat right behind that device shooting Instant On X-Band from the rear, a good spot as many drivers drive 70+ (it's a 45mph construction zone) in the right lane trying to get around traffic before that lane ends.
i turned x-band off but reading this, i might switch it back to normal
