well for the past 3 months or so, my air compressor pump for my air suspension has been coming on as normal, but it has been extreamly rough, sometimes even shaking the car. well last night i went out to dinner and it was fine, then i got home, got out of it, then go "dam, im really close to the ground", sure enough, i look at the rear of my car and its almost tucking my tires in my wheel well  heres a pic- http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/6712/navitucking5zq.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
well i let it alone cuz ive seen it like that before, and usually itll just raise back up. well it didnt do anything. so this morning i had to go run some errands and it hadnt changed at all, my trailer hitch was 9 inches off the ground, thats it :!: i go out of my driveway and it had had absolutely no rear suspension  :x . it was horrible, no matter how small the bump, it would bounce and bounce and then grind. it was like riding it a car that had cut the springs in order to lower it, it felt like ****t. and to make matters worse, it was only the rear. if it had been the front too it wouldve looked alot better, cuz it wouldve looked like i had lowered it, as it was, i looked like a low rider, the front was high as could be, and the rear is pretty much dragging on the ground
anyway, i took it to the dealership, 5 miles away but the longest ride of my life with no suspension. its going to be $955.00 for a new pump and air lines

Ouch A-Town, that has got to hurt the wallet... almost 1k.
Id have to say its probably a good thing it wasnt on your front though... if it was that close on your front tire, I dont even think you could fully turn the (steering)wheel without the tire rubber, rubbing on the wheel-well and chewing it up.
Goodluck on getting it fixed, they give you an ETA back to you?

yeah thats what i was thinking about the front too. i was just hoping that one of my tires wasnt going to blow out while i was driving to the dealership, cuz with no suspension, the tires were trying to absorb everything. and im pretty sure that the grindind noise i heard was the the axle/frame/struts hitting my exhaust pipes cause thats right around where they have to go :x yeah luckily my step-dad is going to pay it for now and i paying him 300/month till i pay it off, so appx 3 months. oh well, ****t happens. yeah itll either be ready tomo or thursday.

Yeah that really sux, but my friend had a Lincoln MarkVIII and he had the same problem with his air suspension except in the front he kept complaining to me and asking 'isnt this lower than usual' and all that stuff, I thought he just abused the crap out of his car.
but a 1k bill really sux...if I must say so myself

what sucks even more is that the Navi alone is only worth like 7 grand

omg, for a 99 its retails new at what like 40 maybe 50k, my acura is worth about the same (if not for the salvage title)its a 97 and it retailed in the mid 20s
I guess American cars really depreciate fast
no offense intended to anybody out there

well if i was talking about with the suspension like it is, its worth 7k , after i get it fixed itll be around 8,500. but still. new it was $46,xxx. it has 101,000 miles on it, a few door dings, and some slight hail damage. but it still runs awesome.

I have heard of problems like one side going out and going down the road sideways.
Glad I did not get that option.
Funny how they time it so even if you had the extended warranty it just ran out at 100,000.

Ah yes, the curse of the old Lincoln, crapped out air suspension.
For $955 are you replacing the whole system or??? Generally just a couple seals on the rear shocks dry up and they leak. Though probably the pump is near the grave anyway. The hard metal parts are good just the seals crap out.

yeah it needed a whole new pump. i just got it back. it had been acting up for a while. and my warrenty was only a 5 year warrenty, it went out in 04 so i was SOL anyway. oh well, everything seems good now so hopefully itll keep plugging along for a while.

i've neevr had a car with that type of suspension...
and i thought the dampers and springs are bad enough, i've got through 2 sets of dampers on the front of my vr6.
we brought the shocks and springs as a full kit, its an apex 40mm.
it was fitted in october 2004 2 year guarantee, the front started to feel rather soft although the shocks werent really leaking, because they are ment to be gas, anyway we decided to get them replaced, that was aug 2005, and a few month ago one of the shocks started to leak so we've just had it replaced yet again...
its hard to say if it was a fault or caused by the pot holes.....
we had to pay full price for 2 shocks as a surcharge because people wernt bring their old ones back and were having 2 shocks at £139.99 for a £50 deposit..
we fitted them last week and i'm avoiding any bump in the road!
because i'm not fitting them again, i feel sorry for the manufacturer having dampers returned which may not have failed by a fault in them
but its hard to say if its been caused by bad roads, or a manufacturing defect... but most of the time the only time you know you hit a pot hole is when you hear a bang :x
