I know I'm not the only one in this group that likes to tinker with cars, so if you've got a "toy" car, post some pics up along with info of any modifications that you've done. I've already posted mine here:

If you don't have any pics, then get off your ass and go get 'em!

Heres my baby:
http://allante.clubexpress.com/content.aspx?page_id=188&club_id=179768&module_id=9586&pp=1
its a 1992 Cadillac Allanté, 4.5L V-8, the body was made in Turin Italy at the Pininfarina plant, right alongside Ferrari Testarosas. Its one of 21,430 Allantes total made, 1992 was the smallest production year with only 1931 made, 256 of which were black.

Thanks, might not be as quick as yours with that monstorous turbo, which by the way looks insane, but it still moves well with the 4.5.
And yes the Driver information center is very nice upon start ups..this things got more features than any of my other cars (all of which are newer) but then again it did cost ~$65,000 new...

I'm not huge into the car audio (I'd like to be, but I always find other things to spend money on first), but I can appreciate that screen with music selection. That's pretty cool! 8)

2000 Cobra R
http://aibo.home.sprynet.com/R154quarter.JPG
Mods include exhaust, chip, harness bar, camera mount, shift light, Pro 5.0 shifter, and carbon kevlar fiber front splitter with aluminum skid plate.
A bunch of stuff was done at the factory (300 made) so I just added a few things to make it better for open track days.

My other cars (01 Cobra, 03 SVT Focus, 86 SVO) are pretty much stock except for intake and exhaust.

I don't think they did... the wikipedia application chart doesn't list the Impala:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tremec_T-56_transmission
I've always loved the T-56. I have a little project on my hands right now: a twin turbo SHO V6 swapped into a Merkur XR4Ti with a T56 behind it.
edweird, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your car. That's about as kick ass as they come!!! Speaking of T56s, wasn't that the 1st Ford to receive one?

07-05-2006, 07:12 AM
Yes, the first T-56 used in a Ford car was in the 2000 Cobra.
That SHO V6 is a good motor. I had a 90 SHO for my daily driver when I lived in CA, and I really liked it.

Funny about the T-56... the T-5 was a total piece of crap behind a V8, even the "World Class" one... but the T-56 can handle Viper engines without worry...

What? I've never known anybody to have anything but great results with the T5 behind V8s. I have a friend with a V8 Merkur XR4Ti with a stock '94 T5, and it's putting 325 to the ground all day without a hitch.
World Class T5s weren't necessarly stronger than the NWC... just better synchros or something like that. The 1st WC T5s had the same torque rating as the last NWC T5.

Until... you get a built twin turboed 383 stroker in your '86 Z-28
They are stronger than the old 5-speed Saab 900 gearbox though... Hell you just go into boost too many times in 3rd and boom pinion bearing failure
Funny to think the same transmission as a 4-speed they called "King Kong" because it could never ever break when mounted to a 95 horsepower engine... then 15 years later they have 195 horsepower and suddenly they are blowing chunks  And you can't swap in another type gearbox because the 900 tranny is longitudinal and goes under the engine and has a chain to link the clutch shaft with the input shaft.
Though I was thinking of making some kind of frankenstein with a standard RWD differential (maybe a positraction...) linked to a Richmond 5-speed and then the standard primary chains, held together in a custom case built much tougher than stock. I wonder if I can make it fit in the same length?
MerkXRTurbo
07-05-2006, 12:22 PM
Well yeah, a twin turbo 383 is going to blow up any stock tranny... even a T56. There are parts to build a T5 to be able to withstand 600ft/lb for over 100K, but you get what you pay for. The only semi-common stock trannies that would be able to hold torque like that would be turbo diesel truck trannies, but they'd obviously be geared totally wrong for an application like that.

1991 MR2 turbo. 3" turboback exhaust, intake, and the stock ct26 turbo has been upgraded and rebuilt but its still running factory boost levels. that will change soon enough.

True, but i guess im cool with it UNTIL he puts that badge on his car........I was actually thinking of Re-badging my car, but I was gonna rebadge it into a Honda...........but I was stuck, re-badge it as an Accord or a Legend??
My car has the same interior (except for a few differences like the climate control panel) the same engine (Even the Egine BAY is the same), and all that as an Accord............BUT my car is the continuation of the Legend (When Acura was going into all alphanumeric naming system, The Legend was stopped and later continued as the CL for the Coupe version, and the RL, for the Sedan Version.........) ahhh what to do?????
Hahaaa... You guys got jokes huh? LOL. No, it has the "stock" badging which looks nice. It still says "300m Special" which is what it is. The "R" for online use and since it is no longer a stock 300m Special that is the point I'm trying to get across. It is my personal project. If Chrysler made the 300m SpecialR what would it be? So I did some mods I felt would have been done, nothing tacky. In manner that it would still look the same but with subtle differences but a lot more horsepower. Kinda like the CobraR mustang looks like a GT except for a few minor changes to appearance and much more horsepower. My car, my project and I put the R on it verbally instead of paying $5,000 to $10,000 extra for someone else to. And believe me, the extra horses are there. Plus it's sleeper. Whatever the case may be I love it. If everyone else enjoys driving their car half as much as I do then its a happy happy world.

fair enough...I personally look @ M, P, and G, end of story, got My CL, love it, but I SOOOO want a Civic (Not to rice, I need a good everyday car with more than 25MPG), but I dont wanna get a Civic because there's no Leather option, I CAN NOT live without my Leather seats (Although the upholstry on the new Civics is REAL nice and cushy), Leather just has that feel, and that slipperiness that im used to
I get between 27-31 mpg on the highway and 20-25mpg city. The Drag Coefficient on this car is only 0.30 If I changed the gears in in this car it would even be faster but I would lose that coveted mpg that I have. All mods considered and implemented had to also improve mpg.

CD is all good and fun but Frontal area is a big factor in all that Aerodynamic resistance stuff (and that 300 isnt really a 'small' car in terms of that either)
I only looked at improving MPG by getting better airflow (AEM SRI) and reliving some backpressure (Custom Exhaust), it just ended up sounding REAL NICE...a good plus for me!!!!

Hmmm.... What type of mufflers did you go with? I went with these

Much more flow than your Borla, flowmaster, dynomax etc..... I really did my homework on every mod. The performance and mpg put a smile on my face every single mile.

sh** I just got a nice looking ricer like muffler (Its real small so i dont really consider it a ricer muffler though) all stock 2" piping, Cats, resonator, and Headers though (Headers are next, After a Laser Jammer :) ) its real low and real nice.......its a little no-name company that just happened to be on the rack at the place where I got it done, a small privately owned shack with 2 bays (Real good service, quality of labor, and of course PRICES), owned by a mexican guy I know, in total I spent 120 parts and Labor, real good for what I got
