This is the 2nd time this has happened.
driving along and run into a speed sign that is showing my speed. My rx65 is silent. All bands are turned on including pop.
about 2 miles down the road, my rx65 picks up real police radar at Ka band. and then again k band passing a local home depot.
what is going on here? it didn't pick up 2 speed signs over the last week.

Well the K band near Home depot is becuase of there alarms (it happens to me too), the speed sign mostly drifted out of the calibration so that it's signal was filtered out by your detector. As for the Ka band it is possibl that there was a LEO somewhere around but i have no clue.

The same thing happens to me when I pass Home Depot too....I thought it was their door opener though...

a speed sign falling out of calibration makes sense. The real K and Ka i rec'd was a cop as i passed thru a speed trap. Just made me wonder why a sign that could read my speed accurately didn't get picked up by my RD. has me worried.

actually i wouldn't worry too much.
there are several threads around here about this.
short answer is that the signs don't need to be calibrated and are either way out of tune, or use a different type of radar not used in police radar units. bottom line it's not something you'll see in a police gun.
the detector is okay.
if someone knows the links offhand, please post.
if not a search should come up with it.
an out of tune sign can give false Ka alert to the rd, at least that's what happened to me once but then the rd went completly silent as i got closer and closer

It is, same thing with Meijer - Rite Aid - and what nots.

Most of the threads about this are in reference to the Valentine, but I'll bet the same thing applies to the RX-65. The speed signs don't have to use the same technology as police radar since they aren't used for writing tickets, some might used something called FMCW, or possibly pulse-doppler. And, some are likely more prone to falling out of calibration that real police radar.
As long as your RX-65 isn't displaying Self-Cal or Service Required, and it seems to be detecting real threats OK, then I wouldn't worry too much. But, I can understand that it can be difficult to trust a detector when you're not confident that the unit is working properly, so another option would be to call Beltronics and ask, or even send it in for a check-up, of coure this is easier if it is under warranty :)

My 12 years old Escort (X & K only) sniffed out speed signs a 1/4 mile away and was far less chatty with K-door openers. At least this has been my observation since upgrading to the RX65 and a 995 recently.
Both the RX65 and 995 now screams bloody murder in autoscan mode whenever I drive around town. I may have to use them in the rural areas and highway only.
