does this bull bar help or hurt laser protection on my headlights? (i.e. am I more likely or less likely to have the police laser work efficiently)

Would veil really help in this case? Obviously some will say it can't hurt I am just trying to justify the $90

I know they are big and shiny... I just recently bought laser shield to help avoid the license plate issue but was wondering if the bull bar would interfere enough that police would tend not to aim at it.

As I said in the VEIL Section when you posted the same question there:
VEIL is only ment for reflective surfaces of your car like licence plate and headlights fog lights, etc. VEIL is NOT meant for any painted surface

When police aim at your truck they will usually aim for the front plate or head lights....VEIL might help a bit but with out a jammer you are toast....Look into getting a jammer

I realize you said that exact same thing there however I wanted to show a picture of the bar itself to help specify my question. I appreciate you trying to help but you are avoiding my ACTUAL question... I am wondering if the bar will interfere and reflect the beam in a different direction (i.e. not back at the laser gun), veil will obviously help I was mearly wondering what the bull bars do in this case, if they help at all.

...considering I didn't ask here if I should paint the bull bar with it...

First of i don't think that bar would have any affect on a LEO's laser, thefore i don't think that the LEO will feel as though a headlight shot is ineffective. For this reson i belive that Veil would help you, but you would have to take off that front bar to put the veil on. Looking at the broader picture however, i think that neither a laser sheild nor veil is going to help you becuase of the size, shape, and color of you SUV. I belive i read somewhere that lidar takes .3 seconds to get your speed i think with veil and the LS your looking at more like .7 but i doubt that will do much for ya. In my veiw both are a waste of money unless you get a jammer.

That's kind of what I figured... I decided to buy 2 laser shield covers because of the fact that they are relatively inexpensive. I agree with you that veil will probably help but not to the extent to make it worthwhile so I guess I won't bother with that. Thank you for the insightful post! Maybe i'll plan on getting a jammer sometime down the line however 1 $400 LEO deterent is plenty for the time being. Thanks again for your help!

Be careful with that thing, ive seen cars get into accidents that would usually just require a new bumper , but the bar gets bent backwards by impact and it crushs the headlights, hood and in certain cases hits the fenders, making a few hundered dollar repair a few thousand dollar one

mike v says gloss black is a bad laser reflector! so thats good news for your bull bar..

Your Brush-guard wont hurt laser reflection one bit. And putting laser plate covers will not help either. Look at all the other reflective surfaces on that thing!


As for that thin diameter brush guard helping in a deer colission? NO WAY!!!

it will cause more damage! look at how thin the tubes are, and how close they are to the fenders. A center hit that would normally damage the center of the vehicle only, it will now damage both sides too with that brush guard on there, the whole thing will fold back and wipe out everything up front including the fenders.

I live in deer country! i see multiple deer/car wrecks every night, and only the heaviest duty "real" Bull-bars help. and that is because they are centrally located without the BS headlight gaurds, and they are big, heavy, and angle down to push the deer under the vehicle, as opposed to like yours being angled back to toss the deer up into your windshield.

Sorry for the harshness, but what you got is for astheatics only, it might keep the tall grass from scratching your headlights though.

Look at products from "Westin" if you want functional front protection. That is whats going on the vehicle in my avatar before hunting season starts up here, along with a roll bar/light bar combo up top.
