I believe that uniden was banned from selling radar detectors in the US because they did not meet FCC regulations.

What about RMR. :?: I hate to admit even one of my friends purchased one, i was so ashamed i didnt want to hurt the poor guys feelings. I guess RMR has some good lawyers bc they are still selling their crap.

I think uniden gave up trying to make detectors and have made more radios...

their revenue is $773,700,000 so not making detectors hasnt dented their income.....

A 9 digit number, closing in on the 10 digit number isnt so bad I would say.

I think Uniden still makes detectors for other markets. They have abandoned the US market ever since the FCC issued limits on leakage so they don't "jam" those satellite dishes at gas stations (and other such devices).

I think that you can still buy uniden detectors in other areas of the world

Fortunately, Uniden did leave the RD business. Having polluting Crapras is enough!

Unidens could even cause other RDs to alert on X and K bands, depending on the model.

I remember using a Uniden LRD 767  . I sold that thing for $10 to a guy and quickly helped him put it up in his minivan. The next day he told me it went off a couple of times during his commute. The most range I got out of it was 1.5 miles of constant on k band from the front.

Uniden exited the radar detector business entirely in 2002-2003. At that time Cobra and Uniden radar detectrors were manufactrued by the same manufacturer.

As far as passing FCC testing, all that is required of the radar detector is that it has low or no emissions from 11.7Ghz to 12.2Ghz.
All detectors can comply with this by simply staying out of that window.

Radar detectors are exempt from testing at all other frequencies.

they made one that had a radar unit that had GPS and was able to record constant radar so thus block out those signals. This protection sucked, but it had a record of the false alarms via gps, so that a user would put in the unit, and not be bothered with false alarms...great idea, but it messed with other gps so it was banned by the FCC and uniden said, why bother? and exited. I had a 777 and threw it away after finding out it didnt pick up ANYTHING.
